The Moonshiner's Leghorns

Oof thats kinda rooster heavy!
I'm in denial.
Within a month give or take I'll have to combine some more into another big group. At some point I'll split into a cockerel group and pullet group. I winter them seperate.
I'll keep count of cockerels that leave and when I divide them I'll see just what %s I got at that point.

I just yelled out "yesss"

Spent some time at the PO yesterday and learned a couple things.
My PO has a cool post master lady that is always helpful. Learned priority mail is advertised as 2-3 days but from here it'd be more like 4 or 5. Same as sending it ground (regular shipping).
But if I go to the PO 2 towns over towards KC that they're within a certain radius of the major hub so from there it would be 2-3 days for priority or ground.
Interesting 20 minutes away would save 2 days. Interesting that priority is no faster then ground.

Yes, things like that can be crazy.

Anything happening with the chocolate colors this season? @The Moonshiner
I have a rooster that's split to chocolate and extended black/gold duckwing with 3 gold duckwing (brown) hens. I hatched a couple in my first couple batches but haven't set any eggs since.
50% chance of producing a male that carries chocolate but I won't be able to Id by sight.
50% of producing a chocolate female. 50% chance a chocolate female would also be duckwing.
That's the dilemma and why I haven't been hatching from them. More throw aways then keepers. Lately they've also been moulting and slowed down on eggs so there's that.
What I need to do is start setting some and at hatch keep anything chocolate and just start giving away the non chocolate chicks. I don't need to feed and bother with chicks I have no intention of keeping.
When I moved those older chicks that day I may have saw one solid chocolate looking pullet in there.

Busy chickening last few days. Not sure if I got a lot done or just did a lot of running in circles.
Feed run but half load since I was in the TB. That's not gonna last long and my good score on the chick feed a while back is days from being gone. That was good while it lasted.
Got through the hatch and set more eggs today. It'll be a half batch hatch. Next hatch I'd due in 7 days. Gonna try to get back to hatches every 10 or 11 days instead of 7. Every 7 is fun but feels like more work and less time to get it done.
2 days ago and yesterday I cleaned too many brooders and moved a lot of chicks.
First day I worked later then usual and then had to scramble with evening life. Got to bed late and woke up a hour later then usual. That made work end a hour later. Not cool, lol.
School starts in about a week so instead of coming home after work I'll be going straight to the school and waiting in the pick up line for far too long. With all that it's getting me home hour and half later then now so there's more lost time. Also not cool.
Moved some pens around today. Mostly swapping roosters. Tried to move a couple females in with the crele pullet. She wasn't having it and it was a battle royal until I moved them back out. That girl is hateful. Swear the girls give me more trouble then mixing the boys.
Gotta move some more and move some away to get another grow out pen ready and I want to set up something with a few blues. Haven't hatched any straight blue pen yet this year.
Think that's about it.
