I went up to throw some leftovers at the chickens. Thought I would check for eggs while I was there. My little blond game was in the nesting box with an egg and pecked me when I tried to grab it. We’ve had our new rooster all of three days so my first thought was “I hope she’s getting broody” and my second thought was “maybe I can finally get some Moony eggs!!”

We have tons of mixes in our free-range layer flock. Hybrids make great, sturdy layers. Pretty much anything crossed on Leghorn is a good layer.
