So I'm assuming the gophers do not survive the "gettin," correct? As in, it's a trap? I have never heard of a "Gopher Getter." Why would someone want to "get" a gopher? Are they harmful?

Ah, according to ChatGPT, gophers can destroy lawns. So that is why someone would want to trap them I suppose.

I don't have Gophers either. I assumed it was like those mole traps where when they hit the trigger spikes go jabbing into the ground and into the poor gophers.
I don't know much about gophers but I love the Go Go Gophers from my youth.

I refer to my son as "bub" or "the boy" a lot. Don't call that baby a gopher.

I almost always call mine "the boy".
He's not a very good gopher anyway.

My brother keeps donkeys in his goat and pony lots so the coyotes won't attack them. They hate a canine so he's never had a loss.

I tried that when I had goats. I got a mini donkey and apparently they also have to be raised around goats to protect them. That donkey hated the goats. She would round them up, run them into the pond and then not let them out.
So yeah that brilliant idea cost me more fencing, another shelter and a second donkey so the first one wouldn't be lonely.

I wonder if this would work on a fat groundhog. He has been digging huge holes under the barn that fill with water during storms. He goes from the outside, under the feed room, and into the far stall. And you only find out how thin his ceiling is when your foot goes through it.

That sucks. I mostly like groundhogs and often wished I had one living here.
There was that one time I hit one on my motorcycle and thought I was going to die. I was flying down a back road and one suddenly tried to cross the road. I thought I was going to be in the clear when he suddenly stopped and laid flat in the road. I went right over him but when my front wheel hit him my handlebars almost jerked out of my hands. That will pucker you up.
Luckily we both survived unscathed.
