I was thinking seems like a red chicken would need to be the starting point. Makes since red would be closest to pink.
I also think the lavender gene would be the smartest dilute gene to think about.
From there it'd be a matter of any other genes to get closer.
There's mahogany to darken then the dilute gene used to turn red to buff. Legbars creme gene, etc.
It'd be mix and match and see the outcome. I really haven't put much thought into it because I have no interest in a pink chicken and if they're thinking a true pink color I don't think it's possible.

Those boys that have mostly the blue in the feathering sure are pretty. I'd trade the crealey boy for another blue boy anyday.

So what's this Sussex project you mentioned?

The buff and blue I mentioned earlier?
I basically want blue tailed Buff? (The technical names are confusing to me, so im not sure if that's a "correct" name). I do not want to do it by crossbreeding because I don't have the time or space for a project like that. My understanding is I can get it if I can find a blue based Coronation Sussex. Which exist but whether they exist in my country I haven't been able to pinpoint. Bonus is if I get some hens and find a new Buff rooster the first lot of chicks will be sex linked.
Ultimately I'd like to have a few colours of sussex that I can "mix" so I get to enjoy several of the varieties without needing a ton of roosters and strict breeding pens. I'd like to end up with a couple Buff roosters and Buff, Red, Coronation (blue based), and eventually a few of those Blue tailed buff hens.

I can't really get more chickens right now though because I'm at/over my limit and just added vorwerks So I've got no timeline on this.
