The Moonshiner's Leghorns

@The Moonshiner how does the size of your Silvers compare to your Browns or other varieties? My Silvers from MM are probably half the size of my Browns. They are in desperate need of infusion of fresh blood. I definitely would rather have better sized silvers with traces of autosomal red than teeny tiny Silvers with clean silver.

From the F1 cross of a Silver male over Brown females, would you cull all of the males and keep only the pullets since the males will be silver/gold splits?

Nope I expect not. We can get in the single digits but it won't last more than a night. We have maybe a month and a half worth of really cold days. Those are normally in January and February.
Winter in Kentucky is cold, wet, muddy and miserable punctuated by sporadic freezing, snow, and ice. Then we have had tornados and flooding in spring and summer. Our neighbors are from Arizona and California and hate our bizarre weather. They have mentioned putting their house on the market and going back. I don’t blame them. 😆

Lol, actually sounds like our weather. Cold front just came in and we had flooding and tornado warnings. Winter is generally wet here as well. We've been in the 80s mostly this fall. Wondering how January and February are going to be now.

We have crazy weather especially fall and spring.

We get maybe 60-80 days of real cold here in west central Missouri. I’m fine with it and by March we start getting warm days. The only thing I do t like is ice. I live in BFE and getting out in my Honda is a pain. It iced last year and I called into work and was two hours late. First time I was late in ten years and I’ve only missed one other day in a decade. They brought it up in my review at work, I still can’t believe they gave me a low score on attendance.
They won’t accept inclement weather as a reason to call off for work at my job either. You are expected to spend the night in preparation for your shifts if inclement weather is suspected or security will come and get you to bring you to work. With all of the code this or that announcements, mock fire drills, and other random hospital noises, there is no sleeping in a hospital (I am a light sleeper). My husband and I both have 4wd and I just choose to take the chance and make the commute. My husband will drive me when its really bad.

Mud and cold make the chickening harder. I hate it. 😢

I'm over here in Arizona. The summer's are our bad time with the extreme heat.

I’d say so. My husband wants to move to Texas where his cousin moved but the summers there are really bad too.
I guess that's why we have so many people from up north coming here for our milder winters. But you also must get some from down here trying to beat the heat during our summer's by going up there.

Yes we do! Like our neighbors who want to go back now! Lol
It seems that most people aren't 100% happy no matter where they live at. We all have our different climates and thing's that we have to put up with within that climate.
