The Moonshiner's Leghorns

I’m pretty happy with the weather in WNC I have to say. I sweep the snow off the walk a couple times a year and aside from that one hurricane I don’t really mind the rain either.
What's WNC? western North Carolina?
Idk why Missouri has the weather we do. We get both degrees and enough humidity to make everything worse.
We'll get below 0° and above 100°. Least we ain't getting that NY snow. We usually get several snows but usually 1" to 6". Sometimes 8" to 10" but that's not often. January and February are our worst months so they're usually cold enough that the snow can hang out for quite a while.
I don't mind the snow except having to drive in it. 2WD rear wheel drive truck isn't much fun. It can be like... hey who the heck is trying to pass me? Oh, that's the backend of my truck coming around.
Made quick work of chores. Ice was easy to break and almost everyone had water still. Only added feed to 2 pens since I try to feed 2 days worth at a time. Tomorrow will suck. Another cold day so get rid of ice and water everyone. And feed everyone. Oh snow expected for tomorrow too. Yippie. Least I have the day off.

Upstate NY weather is no joke either. Adirondack mountains are super cold with lots of skiing available. We will probably be mostly 10-40 degrees (lowest night to highest daytime) temps until March. Got 15 inches of snow this weekend. The chickens hate it. I spend my time shoveling to make sure I have easy access to the coop. They have a covered & tarped run, and now an additional covered area near the door to the fenced area. The rest of their roaming space is covered in snow and they won’t go in it. I prefer super cold and no snow to being buried, just so I can navigate. Last winter it alternated storm of 6-12 inches and then hard freeze, which is thw worst it’s ever been because it didn’t melt at all in-between. As much as I hate the mud, at least the chickens come out and I can lay dry straw down for them to walk on. Just saw today that the wire on my heated waterer is coming loose, so I had to order another one. If I didn’t work I would just keep changing out waters but unfortunately if I fill fresh water in the morning it will freeze my midday. Praying for a mild (30s) winter with very little snow. Will probably get the opposite.
This sounds terrible.

All this weather talk....

If my husband would move, I would gladly go too. But I’m not going without him & he wants to stay. lol.

Summer here is absolutely beautiful though. Spring and fall are pretty amazing too. Just the 3.5 months between them that sucks, and it’s usually only like that every 10 years or so. Hopefully last winter will keep us semi-clear until the next 10 years. Although after this past weekend I don’t have my hopes up!

Wow that sounds like a drag. But at least you will have the day off to give you extra time to warm up in between doing chicken chores.

I dread snow and the vehicle being frosted in the mornings when I get off work. It's a long walk from the hospital to where they make us park, then to get there and it be frozen solid is a major bummer. I haven't figured out how to set up the app to auto-start my vehicle from that. I read I have to have a 4g wifi adaptor for the vehicle or some such technical junk to get it to work.

Ya I park outside my gate cause I got so tired of opening and shutting it to park inside. It's a little bit of a walk. Not too much but just enough I'll whine about it.
In the winter I have to walk out there and start it then go back inside for the windshield to defrost.
I want an autostart so bad. Checked into before but they told me a minimum of $400. That's too much.
Older vehicles are like chickens. If you invest that much into one then it'll soon die.
