The Moonshiner's Leghorns

Ya I park outside my gate cause I got so tired of opening and shutting it to park inside. It's a little bit of a walk. Not too much but just enough I'll whine about it.
In the winter I have to walk out there and start it then go back inside for the windshield to defrost.
I want an autostart so bad. Checked into before but they told me a minimum of $400. That's too much.
Older vehicles are like chickens. If you invest that much into one then it'll soon die.
Mine isn't new, it's a 2018, but it has remote start from the key fob. However, it apparently requires a paid monthly subscription to be able to remote start from the app. I hope I don't have to pay for anything other than that. I am going to call the agent tomorrow and see if I can get it working. It would be worth it for my vehicle to be already warm when I get to it in the mornings after work. The parking lot is too far away from my unit to walk out and start it, unfortunately. They make us park all the way in the back 40 at work.

There are pips!

Yep chores wasn't too bad today. Went out once and made sure everyone had water and access to it then later fed and broke ice where needed. And plenty of time to get layered up.
Woke up to snow and it snowed almost till dark. Had to go fetch some for snow ice cream and my truck hood says 5". Dreading driving to work tomorrow morning :barnie
The first chick is out. One of the BC1 Creles. Single barred so wild type in color.

Sweet. Congrats one your schooling and the hatching. What's going on here? I don't see a chick.
About forgot these were hatching. It's winter mode here so it's fun to read about hatching. Can't wait for spring.

Its in the mesh bag to keep the eggs separate. I circled it so you can see it easier.

Went from looking for gloves to looking for all things winter warm.
Got boots. My mucks have been doing well although I'll probably invest in some warmer socks for when it gets really bad. I also picked up some fur looking lined hiking boots from thrift store a while back. Idk how warm they'll be but they looked like they should be. Have bibs but bought another pair a while back at garage sale just because they fit good and were $10. Been wearing them and love them. They have a zipper up the front and legs zip all the open from bottom. That makes them handy getting on and off.
Did talk to a utility crew guy that recommended a brand of gloves and found them on ebay for reasonable $$$ but I had to offer even less and they took the offer so either way won't really lose out on those. Will still get a different pair just in case or just for a second pair. Got an old and a new carhartt beanie that serves me well so think I'll get one of those gator things for the rest of my face.
Got a couple pair of lined pants and long john's but wouldn't mind more for when it's not cold enough or convenient for the bibs.
Got a carhartt type coat but it's bulky and wears weird. Don't really like it so might look into a couple different options there. Had a field and stream lined flannel with a zipper and hood. Wore that to rags but it wasn't too heavy but really warm. Wish I could find another.
So ya it's cold and I'm not happy about it so that's my priority for the moment.
