I have experience with a chicken out growing a leg band and getting hurt. It cut her tendon sheth open and she had a herniated tendon. I fixed her and she's been fine ever sence.

I was referring to a situation that would cause or require an amputated leg (whether surgical or auto-amputation from necrosis) due to a leg band, like ischemic injury to the distal leg and foot which would cause necrosis and gangrene. In a situation like that, I would cull a chick for sure. If the chick can recover and be sound, sure give it a chance. The chick I had that the zip tie was imbedded fortunately had no ischemic injury and the blood flow was not profoundly impaired enough to cause injury yet. The foot was swollen due to lack of venous return from the distal extremity due to the imbedded zip tie, but once the zip tie was carefully removed, the injury resolved and the chick's foot was fine.I have experience with a chicken out growing a leg band and getting hurt. Well, at least you can have some eggs for breakfast now.My oldest pullets have really picked up on laying. I've been finding eggs scattered everywhere in their pen daily.
Now the old ladies are a different story. I'm getting about the same number daily from them as I do from the cockerel pens.

It's been bouncing up and down. Few days around 50s then a 40s or two then 30s then back up, back down. Overall though it's not been bad since like a week or week and half ago when wind chills were below 0.That's not freezing weather.

Pretty much warmed up the day before my winter clothes started showing up. Got another lined flannel today. Gonna keep shopping winter gear cause I think that's keeping winter away.
Yep, also why I'm not even considering hatching no eggs. As soon as I'd set them the temps would plummet. That must be like when you wash your car, it will rain?
