The Moonshiner's Leghorns

Indeed. Sometimes it falls on a workday for me. When we had very few people I always got it off even if the boss had to feed and water himself and let everything else get put off a day. Christmas was my only holiday off. We have way too many people now so it's not a guarantee but boss still tries.
Note... I've been there 12 years. Next longest is now 3. My 12 is more then the 10 others time combined. I am also the only one with a kid that is celebrate Christmas age. He has grown up coming to work somedays. Boss watched him grow up.
He asked others if anyone wanted to work or trade me days. 3 volunteered so they picked one. D bag that was supposed to ask me if I wanted him to work for me or trade a day. He never said anything to me. Boss's wife texted me Christmas eve asking what we decided. I was like wth you talking about? No one said anything nor did you or boss so I assumed I had to. Blah blah blah. I've done planned to work. Worked my Christmas around working and someone else worked their schedule around to watch the kid while I worked.
She contacted the 3 volunteers. They all 3 work same morning shift same thing as me but on my days off. Drama cause no one would work alone. Offer 2 to work and 3rd and me work Friday. My day off. Whine snivel. One finally volunteered to come in Christmas work with me so I'd have a short day at least. Christmas morning he called in. Sick can't make it.
Couple extra things came up for the day. No I'm not doing extra and extending my day. D bag agrees to come in do the extras and work with me to at least shave 2 hours off. D bag comes in does extras then says he has to leave. I worked a full. But yes pretty much covered Christmas the day before with kid, grown daughter, her husband and mom.
How's that for a rant?
That is terrible! I am so sorry! My boss does little favors for others while some get the short end of the stick. The squeaky wheel gets the grease. I worked Christmas Eve, and I work New Years Eve and New Years Day.

Our Christmas was very low key. We learned long ago to avoid the stu- the realatives. It was just the 4 of us. The Kids had already gotten their presents. Melissa (24) ordered herself a nice gaming chair, very good for her back and neck and gastric issues. Elijah (19) got a very nice compound bow (he paid for most of it) and accoutrements. The kids got me a set of Beats headphones, as I like to fall asleep listening to my nice religious music, and we got DH a nice new fancy kitty litter box that hopefully will be easier to clean. I hope it's not the equivalent of buying mom a vacuum cleaner ... lol. We had a lovely enchilada dinner with beans and rice which made everybody very happy. I did a fair job of reproducing my late mother's secret, world famous enchilada sauce so I was happy.
That sounds so wonderful! I’m glad you had a good Christmas! I wish I could tell most of our family to take a hike and just stay to ourselves like that. That would be so much more peaceful for us and less aggravation. I don’t know why I continue to bother with most of them. It’s probably some deep psychological thing from being an unwanted kid that makes me keep showing up. Like an old dog that people kick to get out of the way. But I still keep coming back to lay on the porch.

I do not feel sorry for myself, nor do I intend to try to elicit sympathy. I am grown and totally fine, I promise. But family stuff is such a nagging pain. Christmas shouldn’t be about faking pleasantries just to keep from making everyone mad. Christmas should be about Jesus and spending it with the family you actually want to be with.

A time machine 😬 I'm sure I'd end up using it for some kind of evilness.
I for sure would use it to do some stuff for sure. Felony worthy probably. So for the sake of my own soul and criminal record, it is probably best I steer clear of time machines. 😆

Thats a shitty day. Could be worse. I got called in for an emergency repair, just to find out they got it going right after I clocked in. Union rules I had to stay 4hrs.
It used to be my family would do Christmas on whatever day we could all get off or at least a half day. I never used to mind working it. Gave me an excuse to avoid the extended family parties. Now its just another day for me. Next year will be different. We are expecting some nibblings next year.
What are nibblings?

Sorry you had to go to work on Christmas. I am notorious for requesting to work holidays to avoid family stuff. Nothing beats “sorry we can’t make it, I have to work.” It sounds better than “sorry we can’t make it because we don’t want to.” 😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆

BTW, Moony, my GC wants to change my Moon Shadow's name. He's getting very large and beautiful. I wish I could get a pic of him that does him justice. She wants me to change his name to Hugh. As in Hugh Mungous. I can't do it. He's a Moony, through and through. She can call him Hugh if she wants to, I guess.
A rose by any other name would still smell as sweet. Or something like that. Let the kid call the rooster whatever, but Mooney he will remain. 😆

Or you could ask for a time machine so you could go back in time to a time when people weren't afraid of work.
I don’t think they are afraid of work. I think some people just prefer to be dependent and not work. Lazy? Yes. Entitled? Also yes. I come from a long line of food stamps and check drawers. Like they make it into a lifelong career. They love to live off everyone else’s dime. There is no shame in being poor, I was raised poor. But it is a shame to not try to at least attempt to make a better life for yourself than that. My mom asked me for money for cigarettes the other day. She is constantly bumming. She is trying to get some kind of government check for being illiterate, institutionalized, and having PTSD. She is a lifelong con artist, thief, manipulator, etc. Anything she can do to get money without actually having to work for it.

Well this cash cow has dried up. She is gonna have to find another teat somewhere else. I will not buy you Marlboros when you are too lazy to work to pay for your own.

:barnie

Jesus take the wheel.

Sorry for trauma dumping. :duc

Mexican food for Christmas sounds fantastic! Especially authentic Mexican food! Then fishing?? You are living a dream!
I was enjoying some authentic Ecuadorian food this Christmas! My family visited my boyfriend and his family and it's been wonderful. I leave tonight though, that's sad, but it has all been a blessing.
