The Moonshiner's Leghorns

Y'all please whisper a little prayer for my boy. He had his braces put on yesterday and his teeth are sore, his mouth is all cut up from them, and to top it all off, he started feeling sick and running a fever last night. He had to miss school so my husband took him to the doctor today while I was cooking and he has strep.

He is asleep here on the couch beside me and he is so sick he is whimpering in his sleep. God love his heart. If I could take it all from him and be sick myself, I would. 😢
Ah, the poor feller! How old is he?
❤️🙏❤️

No hatching for me till probably May. I need to limit my hatching this year. It hard not to love the weekly chicks so I think my only chance is a late start and early stop in the fall.
I'm way behind on thinning birds still so I'll focus on that for a while I suppose.

What material did they use to make those braces? Something doesn't seem right with that. Is there a way that you could find out?

@KF0002 humidity is at 33% dry. Eggs are developing well. I think the air cells look good

Y'all were talking about caffeine earlier. I weaned myself off of coffee about 15 years ago. Now in the mornings I drink a hot beverage called Pero. It's barley based and quite delicious. I put a little flavored creamer in it. I can't say it tastes like coffee, it doesn't have those bitter notes, but it's quite satisfying.
Were you having a problem with caffeine? It's not something I worry about, especially since I only drink coffee in the mornings. Except on a cruise I took last year - they had a cappuccino machine and I was drinking that all day.

That doesn't sound nearly as fun.

Oh yes, most definitely! And the hybrid quality when you mix them calms the ferociousness down a bit when they have chicks (just a bit). Most of my hybrid half game hens free ranging like to hide away for some unauthorized hatching every year! Or clog up nests in the hen house with their broodiness. They are constantly broody! True story! 😆😖
Oh that's good - I have some game/leghorn chicks under my broody hen right now, and I'm hopeful.
