I haven't hatched brown and white egg's together, so I don't know about that.

The guy will give him a couple dozen eggs. Mixed flock, same as he hatches from and sells for $8 a chick.

Something here doesn’t pass the sniff test. I suspect the friend has a special talent for selling magic beans…

The amount of work that goes into the free egg starter kit before your brother would see any ROI seems to have been left out of the equation. He would make more money if he ate those eggs.

Or is he just going to hatch and sell the two dozen chicks? Then go back to his egg dealer friend and have to buy more?

So I've had chickens on and off my whole life. Grew up either in the woods, hunting, fishing, camping etc. Or on a farm. We never had a farm but had family that did and farm kids were the kind of friends I had.
Have a brother that couldn't of been more different. Besides fishing we had nothing much in common. He was into several sports, gaming, trying to be in the in crowd etc.
He called me asking if I had an extra incubator he could borrow. WTH? What, why, huh? I mentioned I could probably come up with one, but why?
He does some crafts and sells a few. Has some kind of wood burner and a couple 3D printers. Went to a swap meet and ran into an old friend. That guy said he was there selling chicks and already sold out. Now my brother wants to get into trying the chick sells thing. The guy will give him a couple dozen eggs. WAIT, WHAT? $8 each? I'm skeptical but guess I'll see. He's always been luckier when it comes to $$$ then me.

He's hoping to make a fast buck selling chicks lol

This will just be a test run to see if it's feasible to make money. Not trying to get rich just make a little money with a side hustle.
