The Most Dangerous Coffee Shop- A Role Play

Annie jumped she had been staring at the two smoking holes. "Yes! Absolutely!" She answered grinning. Trying to hide how uncomfortable she felt. "That's a really cool ability you have. You can just zap the bugs! I should stick around you. Then there's no way I'd get eaten by spiders." She'd had forced friendships before. No problem. She told herself. First impressions are rarely accurate. Ellie is probably just nervous like everyone else.
Ellie’s smile faded. She sighed I always make people uncomfortable she thought sadly. Even though she tried to make friends it definitely wasn’t her strong point

Charlie looked at Fox with startled eyes. "Uhh- I don't think I'm supposed to be here. I was, um, teleported by accident.." he trailed off, his eyes wandering the room. "I'll, uh, not intrude your.. meeting any longer. You might want this." He shoved the rock at Fox. "You've got the wrong person." He said, avoiding eye contact.

Charlie eyed the tiny man and his huge kitten steed. "I don't think I'm supposed to be here." He mumbled.

"Listen, listen," Fox said softly, refusing to take the rock. "Just take a breath for a second, and calm down." He was trembling from the overwhelming amount of emotion in the room. "I'm not going to try and make you stay here, but you might want to listen to this man."

"Uh.. ok." Charlie said. He noticed the shaking, but didn't say anything. Realizing that Fox wasn't going to take the stone, he brought his hand back and tucked the stone into his pocket.

Charlie stared at him. "Is this some sort of... uh, world hunger meeting?" He asked, wondering what the heck was going on.

Fox straightened, taking a deep breath to calm himself. "No. Not some...world hunger meeting," he looked at Kyle with a frown. "Explain it so it's easy to understand. Saying he's part of a thousand year curse isn't exactly a clear explanation."

Charlie looked back and forth between them with a dumbfounded expression. What?

After a period of silence, Brid stood and moved to stand near Fox, hoping she wouldn’t screw this up. “Okay, it’s all a little confusing, but here’s the general idea. That rock you just put in your pocket teleported you here because it’s connected to something called the ‘mother amulet’ that’s in the basement. The mother amulet wakes up about once every thousand years because around that time a several summers worth of bugs the size of him-” She gestured towards Kyle “-appear. You still following?” She paused, hoping that had made sense and sending lost glances at Fox and Kyle as if asking them to join and help at any point.

“Wow! I have the ability to glare and burn holes” she demonstrated by glaring hard at the napkin and 2 holes appeared as though they had been burned.

The lazer-eyed girl was looking a bit glum. “Hey, I agree with her!” Cam said cheerily, deciding a pat on the back was too intimate for someone she had just met. She was completely genuine when she said “I want you on our side too. Imagine all the bugs you could blast with those eyes of yours.”

Kyle nodded along with what she was saying, glad that everything was trying to explain was being understood. “Yup, pretty much. You want some coffee?” The very notion seemed to scare the poor guy.
Rylie decided at that very moment that this was his favorite person in the room. Gee, I hope he’s not allergic.
Kyle braced for impact as Rylie let out an endearing “prrrrrrrrt” and twined between Charlie’s legs, giving some of those adorable head rubs normally designed only to knock Kyle down. This is so awkward.

"Oh wow! I wish I could do that!" He said taking the cup back. Some how he felt comfortable around these two. He wasn't sure why, but for once he didn't really care.
Take smiled with confidence, their praise boosted his ego. “Hehe it’s no big deal” he scratched the back of his head, his face growing warm.

“To be honest, I had the hardest time learning to control it, because sometimes I’d accidentally burn other kids when we’d play, then I’d end up being alone most of the time.”
"That must have been rough," Blair looked away from Fox, Kyle and the new boy to look at Take. "You would think that now adays people would be smarter, and understand that somethings we can't control." She leaned back in her chair, no longer looking at Take, but her gaze flickered around the room. "Be it our powers or our looks. No one seems to get that we don't always have full control."

"She explained it best," Fox mumbled, nodding at Brid. He took a few steps back, staring at the floor, arms crossed over his chest. Anxiety, confusion, embarrassment, sympathy, joy. He could feel every single one of those in the room. Is empathy a blessing or a curse?

Brid offered him a small smile in thanks, studying him with a confused expression before looking away. He seems so... overwhelmed, but we all are. Maybe he’s just taking all this harder than the rest of us.

Ellie tried to smile. “Hmmm I will have to have some practice though I can’t zap moving objects yet” she said thoughtfully

(Is it too late to join this?)
(Not yet)
Ellie tried to smile. “Hmmm I will have to have some practice though I can’t zap moving objects yet” she said thoughtfully
“Better learn fast then,” Cam said chummily. “I wonder who else is going to show up. And what we were all ‘chosen’ for,” she said, admiring the colorful array of people of all shapes and sizes.
