OK THANK YOU!!!!! Very helpful advice. I put everything back in order. The hens are sitting a little, but I wouldn't call it broody which is more like sitting continually, right? I've got a lot of reading to do.

I have had a heat lamp in the coop because it has been single digit temps.

This is fun. I've tried and tried at this hobby for 3 years and I'm just now getting it right. I've never made it to eggs so I'm so happy!

I was thinking bout this wonky egg thing. I thought the word was so funny that it just stuck in my head as did this whole hatch experience. See, my flock was very mature at 9 months and laying for the first time. The daylight was too short for laying when they reached sexual maturity. So at 9 months, I might say that those first eggs would not have been wonky. I think I should have at least tried to incubate them. At least for science sake I can see tossing the eggs from a 5 month old chick that just starts to lay to avoid the wonkiness. Wonky chick syndrome. lol That egg woke me up, guess I'm a light sleeper and I am delirious.

also, I have 2 eggs from the original 6, possible 3 eggs but one look bad, that are about to hatch. Today is day 21, also the most exciting day! first hatch ever. I heard a chirp from the shell of one.
