THE MOTHER'S DAY HATCH-A-LONG!!!! The last day to join in and set eggs with us is April 28th.

I've been away from this thread for a couple of days but thinking... must get back, must get back... Soooo here I am. We candled the 10th night and it's still not great for my sweet adorable Orp eggs... not to mention the deeeep brown Whole Foods eggs I placed in the other 'bator for giggles.

I'm sincerely praying for these tiny lives every day and hoping for the best... but we have loads of what appear to be clear eggs, and then a few with confirmed embryos that I would assume should be bigger by now. My 'bator is oooooold, and is only being monitored by me, my dh, and my dog. I'm doing my best.... sometimes I hope there's a big sign. How often or how inappropriate is it to let the seller know about the potential "infertility" of the eggs sent?

I know this may be a touchy subject, and the chances are that it's me, not her lovely hen/roo mating rituals...but being new, I'd love to know.

My homemade incubator Henny Penny is officially full. Takes me 10 minutes to turn all the eggs. THe eggs are stacked all the way to the lid. I will reveal a pic when I have the courage to tell DH how many I am incubating, as he takes the pics for me on his phone. Camera is AWOL.

I have already started collecting eggs for the next batch.

I kinda find this funny. I am waiting on some ordered eggs to come to start another batch of eggs. This next batch will be chicks and turkey eggs. Turkey eggs will be a new one for me. I am so excited. Wondering now if there is like turkey math?

19 adults to butcher
ordered 15 poults last fall from Porter's for shipping this spring..
then added 2 more poults to the order
husband said.. we need some more turkeys.. set some eggs
so I set 13.. they were in the bator when he looked at the broody turkey and told me to give her eggs.. I didn't..
added 7 more eggs for the May 5th turkey hatch.. then gave mamma broody 9 eggs.. she broke a couple.. gave her more to take it up to 12..
the other turkeys trying to get into the preferred nest box broke a few more
butchered a tom today (24 pounds.. dressed out at 18.5 pounds)..

now sending some eggs to a friend for her bator..
may drop a few more eggs into the bator this weekend before we butcher more of the adults as soon as I can make room for more turkey eggs...

Okay here is a picture of my incubator ......


So I have 23 Silkie Eggs and 11 BBS Marans.... All shipped eggs.... I have the other 3 Marans eggs under my broody as well as 1 Silkie .... Do I need a picture of those??? My hen is not cooperating and doesn't want to leave her nest for me to snap a picture!

So I have 34 eggs set in the incubator & 4 Broody Hen..... Turns out Nugget is going broody when I went down to feed the girls this morning she didn't come out and was sitting on an egg.... I gave her some blanks for now to make sure she is really broody!!! If I move eggs from the incubator to Nugget ..... in a few days is that okay per the rules???

Here is Popcorn my determined Broody with battle wounds to show for it!! And yes she did used to have feathers on her neck.....

yes, you can put the eggs under a broody hen if you like!!!!!!!!!
