The Mystery of the White Egg

I have Buff Orps with partially pale white earlobes. Not as bright as that.
She does not have the slimness of a Minorca. I doubt you would get an odd Minorca while all the rest seem to be Orps.
Maybe just hatchery quality.

Well I finally got an egg from her. And guess what? It's light brown just like a normal Orpington egg. Still have no idea where the white egg came from. We haven't gotten any more white ones since.

She definitely looks like a BO and it was probably just a blip with her system. We had one of our silkies, who always lays the prettiest, shimmery, cream colored egg, lay a nearly solid white, matte colored egg day before yesterday. Our RIR, who typically lays a solid brown egg, will occasionally lay a slightly speckled brown egg. Our Silkies came from an online hatchery and our RIR came from an Orschlens back in February.

I wouldn’t stress over it. Be confident your girl is a super sweet BO. Our BO’s are 12 weeks this week and I can’t wait until they start laying!! They’ve got their “big girl” voices and clucking going and I just LOVE their personalities!

I found a sort of white-ish one today. It's got white spots all over it. Very unique! I like it.
