(I'm not online on Sundays.)
Jintao glanced at the door. Ember? A nice soul? He would have laughed if the circumstances were different. Nevermind that, Jintao told himself. Any remark he had against the Quartermistress he'd keept to himself. It wasn't his call to talk poorly about her, not even to Tay.
"Mm, perhaps," his smile was both fake and momentary.
His eyes followed the awkward grip on his blade and stopped with a check-in on Tay's position. His position was already poor, and she had not yet pulled out her own small weapon. He lowered himself to a fighting position then straightened himself back to his normal height.
"Please," his eyes begged on accident, "let's keep this quiet and quick. I have no doubt that you know how to use your weapon, but it's a bit awkward for me. I need to familiarize myself with this and with the Captain wanting me, I don't want to waste much time."
Jintao didn't wait for Tay's response. If she had something to say, she could say it well enough while they
danced. He swung his blade, expecting Tay's to met his, and kept watch in case she decided to delay.
