Jintao stopped, glancing at Ember. She? Wanting a word with him? Surely it was only for the report and nothing else. He had done nothing to oppose her, and with the Captain and Baily standing nearby, it was not for the gloating over her victory from the night before.
His gaze dropped to Gecko. Gecko sank back down, but his color was returning to his face. Jintao turned back to Ember, and with a prompt nod, he followed her port.

One last sharp step brought her to a comfortable speaking distance of the first mate, turning to him fully, she folded her arms once more.
"From the make of this situation, Galen isn't to blame for the disorder," her voice maintained an easy professional tone. She saw no need for rivalry to interfere with business matters aboard the 'Silver.
"I've excused him from the punishment, but do what you want with this mess." She flicked a claw from beneath her folded arm at the scruffy Harpy. "I'll leave his fate to you. If you have any further notes for the situation, I ought to know for the Captain's records."

Jintao kept his muscles tight, waiting for the mockery: The quick remarks turning his dignity to dust and the laughter of victory nipping in every place possible. Ember said nothing of last night's trouble, but kept it strictly to the issue at hand, which was nothing like anyone from the Destruction. Jintao held his breath for only but a moment. He'd treat her with the same respect for more than her higher rank. That is, if she could keep herself in a manner worthy of receiving it.
"I'm aware," Jintao gave her a tilt of his hat. Saying otherwise would be weak. He motioned his head toward Gecko, who was crawling to his feet. "I've told him his punishment. It is now up to him to carry it out. I'll be following up with Galen later to see if he does, and if he doesn't, I'll take it up with the Captain myself."
