The crisp salty breeze felt amazing under Lichen's wings.

The harpy tilted her long brown hawklike wings, dipping closer to the sea as she scanned the horizon. She swept back up, up up, flying nearly vertical to the craggy cliffs and shooting up above them, looking down at Birds Point.

Lichen sailed smoothly towards the ground, skidding slightly on her deeply treaded boots as she hit the gravel. Her wings folded neatly behind her, and she brushed the stray hairs escaping from her long braid out of her eyes.

She loved being able to go out and fly, feeling the freedom and wildness of the wind and the sweet smelling pines and the salt crystals that encrusted her feathers from the sea spray.

Was it dangerous? Probably. But that was the whole point. Lichen had a fierce love of the sense of danger, the adrenaline boost that shot through her bloodstream.

The tall harpy turned around, gazing out at the sea stretching out before her, listening to the waves crash wildly against the cliffs.

Name: Alayna (people call her Layna)
Gender: Female
Age: 34
Species: Human
Physical Appearance: An ordinary middle aged lady with light brown hair and natural blonde highlights. She usually wears her hair up in a messy bun, but it usually ends up falling out by the end of the day. It’s harder for her to see close up, but she doesn’t wear glasses. She wears plain dresses when she works, though they’re usually covered up by an apron she wears all the time. She wears it so often that she usually doesn’t bother taking it off, even at home. She has bright hazel eyes.
Personality: Layna is usually a sweet, caring woman, though ever since the death of her husband, she’s been more reserved and quiet. She never talks about him. She enjoys baking and it helps makes her more pleasant and calm.
Backstory (optional): Lives in a small town in southern Newhale, though she doesn’t hold any particular allegiance to either the King or the Rebels. In fact, she’s resentful towards both of them. She has two sons who both live on their own now, and had a husband who died recently. She owns her own bakery in the town, and has a couple of close family friends who visit often.
