-The Mythics RP-

"I, myself, have never operated on a ship, but I have a deepened knowledge of the sea, and my abilities would be greatly useful in the event of a potential conflict."
Nautalis turned slightly to gesture to Jintao.
"My friend here has experience with sailing-" She pointed to Tay next, "-and this young lass here is quite the sleight of hand, and a feisty one. I'm certain they'll prove themselves useful."
The siren faced the Captain again, gently tugging her scarf away from her face.

Tay scrunched her nose, glancing from the siren to Vhanya, then back again.

So now I will ask, as I have been waiting to do, what do you think of the story so far?
uhh... I'll admit I lose track of who's who fairly often 😅 I like it though! I love the idea of the world and everything.
Because the reaction notifs didn't give us any clues or anything, of course, we're just that good.
Um well, I don't have my settings set for those so I sometimes forget they're a thing 😅

(this one’s a little rough around the edges 😬)

Vhanya looked up from her logbook, the voice calling in both Mythic Radix and English sounding clearly through to her cabin. She dropped her feet down from their place kicked up on her desk, then loosed her tail from her trousers, in case the strange voice belonged to some soul seeking trouble.

She stepped over to where her hat hung -a ladies‘ hat, with a sweeping brim of rich navy cloth and loops of black lace accenting the hat band. Vanity often plagued pirate captains, and Vhanya was no exception; she loved to look the part.
After thoroughly dusting off the hat from a smattering of cobwebs, she placed it upon her head and strode out of the cabin, taking care to lock the door behind her.

She was past the steerage and out into the morning light in good time, once her eyes caught sight of the Mythic standing on the gangplank, she greeted her in Radix accompanied by a tip of her hat, ”salevtae!“

Her arrival lost a hint of its confidence when the crazed Harpy got himself caught in the ratline.
Ignoring him entirely, she turned her full attention onto the Mythic woman. Two humans stood behind her, a slight-statured girl with trouble on her face and a tall man with the manner of a pirate but the expression of a kicked dog.

She extended a hand, “the name’s Captain Vhanya Marriott. What brings you to my ship?” Her eyes flicked to the humans, ”that’s an odd pair you’re towing, I might add.”

"Ah, Captain Marriott. I believe I've heard mention of you."
Nautalis met her handshake firmly, her gaze lingering briefly on the tangled Harpy clinging to the ratline.
"It's a pleasure to meet you. I must say, you own a lovely vessel here, she ought to pull quite a number of attention, yes? We happen to be in need of a ship and a crew. I have a, ah, task, I need to carry out, and your ship caught my eye."

She broke free from the handshake to further survey the appearances of the trio. The man was missing his right arm, and from his posture Vhanya could tell his southern hand was not the dominant one. That was a problem, but she was confident she could find some use for him yet. The young woman was favoring her feet, but apart from that she still looked sharp enough, and the Siren had a cunning sort of gleam about her that was promising indeed.

She clicked her heels, enjoying the flattery towards her ship,“something can be arranged. Are any of you capable of manning a ship? I prefer my passengers to offer some sort of assistance during their stay.“

Jintao eyed the tangled Harpy before looking across the decks. Everything on the the planks was in order and well maintained. Impressive, he thought, except for her crew.

With Vhanya not giving him any orders, Gecko fixed himself on a ratline. He clinched the net as he climbed it like a human and occasionally stopped to ensure his feathers wasn't getting caught. Coming near the top, he let go with one hand and leaned out. His imagination ran wild as he held out his rusty blade like he was some great pirate who had been sailing his whole life.
A Mythic's greeting stole his attention. There, coming up the gangplank, walked one with bare feet and her head covered. She walked with meaning and trouble in her stance. Something about her being fluttered something in his interest. It was her who spoke the language he hadn't heard another speak in a lifetime.
Gecko's wings flapped uncontrollably. "Greetings!" He exclaimed in the Mythic's language. "Yes, she's... Ah!" his wings got caught in the ratline, which he discovered when he attempted to jump down to the new Mythic. "Ouch, ouch, ouch!" He spun from where he hanged, trying to free himself from the net. His wings tangled further and pulled painfully on his back. "Help!" Gecko cried. He grabbed the netting, stabilizing himself. "I'm stuck!"
Gecko pulled at the ropes that gripped his wings. He secured his footing on the ratline and turned around. With his back against the ropes, he took a step upwards. The lines tightened on the top of his wings and loosened on the bottom. He stepped back down and the opposite happened.
There, he pulled the line off the top of his wings and climbed upwards with his back still turned to the ropes. He folded his wings in and ran his hands over them the best he could reach. The rope had slid off his left wing when he had climbed, but it still tied his right wing.
Gecko reached for his knife, only to find his sheath empty. He looked to the deck below, and there it lay- dropped from his accident. "Uh..." he looked to the captain. She had no apparent care for him, so calling for more help was useless. He shook his head and used his claws to remove the rope instead.
