-The Mythics RP-

Tay's wrist seized up, and she strained to make out each distant voice, her body eager and startled.
Everything sacred. She wanted to throw the knife, and rid the threat. Erase the past terror, corrupt her image in Jintao's dead eyes.
Bailey grunted, crossing the room to the girl’s side. He looked briefly at her, brow furrowed, before grasping her arm and lifting up the thin, bruised wrist, “is this an instance of mere misunderstanding?”
Dropping her arm, he turned on a heel to gesture towards Ember and her raised knife. He didn’t need to speak, instead he fixed the first mate with a pointed, cutting stare.

Though his eyed strayed not from the man, he firmly addressed the room’s other occupants, “you, lass, or the harpy. What is this?”
Jintao's chest raised. He held his breath in silence and lost eye contact with the man.  Yes, his conscience stepped in again.  No, Ember's actions said otherwise. Tay knew about what happened to his arm and he couldn't shake it. He remained silent, knowing that Ember would speak first.

(I’m not quoting everything, I’m not that crazy.)
(Post production RD here, this isn’t very good and it took me for. eh. ver. but I am excited to see how the rest of this scene plays out.)

“What is this?” The voice came low, more order than question.
The open doorway framed a scene of nearly picturesque composition; the young woman, wrist raw, flesh mangled. All trembling knees and wide, hard eyes, with a knife in each hand encased by bone-white knuckles and dirty fingernails.
Vin’s harpy, eyes blazing to match the bright moonlight, shoulders set and head back. Her blade like a compass point to the far wall, where the first mate stood bristling. And he was taller than both of them, stronger than both of them, even lacking an arm.
“Just as you, I shan’t repeat myself,” Bailey stepped clear of the door, jaw set, arms folded across a broad chest.

A voice entered the room. Jintao pointed his blade at yet another intruder. The man he had seen earlier stood before him, calm, confident, and worthy of respect. His stomach twisted and his blade lowered. Jintao stepped in a corner, leaving both Cyrus and Ember in his view.
"Sir," the word came out as though it was spoken to a captain, "my apologies." He stuck the dagger into his pocket, but his grip remained tight. Jintao didn't know this man, but it wouldn't surprise him if he had captained a ship, and possibly for a long time. He glanced at Ember. She was going to sell him. Tay most likely would, too, if the fear of retaliation didn't stop her.
Jintao pressed his tongue against his teeth. The man bore wisdom and experience. Even if everyone in the room fought against him, he would defeat them all with a single word. Jintao straightened himself into the respect he once received on the Destruction. It was futile in such a predicament, but even if it showed he was more experienced than Ember, that was all that mattered. He tilted his head in a nod of respect. "Nothing but a misunderstanding, sir. That's all."
(Oh Jintao, are you that determined to one-up her?)

Her despise for Jintao only grew.
How dare he disregard her so vigorously, belittle and undermine her, yet shrivel at the arrival of a tired old man. Yes, she too could feel the demanding calm of Cyrus's presence, a presence that rang too familiar against her plated dark heart. But she could have turned Jintao to ashes then and there if she wished. How dare he.
Threats weren't enough. Honest shows of skill and power weren't enough. Ember had something far more effective set aside. And Jinato would pay dearly at the hands of it.
"I truly do not know."
She lowered the blade, spinning it in a skilled hand to grasp it with the blade pointed back. She did not remove her tracking gaze from the first mate.
"I misunderstood nothing- I heard a commotion and felt a disturbance. When I found Lyra's life being threatened I stepped up to preserve her. And then-"
She'd play this advantage savagely. Ember jerked a nod toward Jintao.
"-I asked for an explanation as you did, and received only more threats. But of course...'
She cocked her head toward the older man.
"Now that things have settled, there is more opening for answers."

Lies, lies, lies, Jintao's grip tightened on the dagger, well hidden in his pocket. Feelings weren't to be shown here. If they were, he'd never be allowed to live them down. He kept his calm and dignity as a means to control the situation, even if it went unnoticed by the one he hoped to win the favor of.
Ember's act was enough to tease. An old memory told him it was a Phoenix thing. They viewed themselves as better than everyone and loved to prove it with their prideful actions. Showoffs, that's all they are. Failures in everything else.
Ember's tone of false innocence disgusted Jintao and her fancy wording would have been treated with mockery, had this ship been the Destruction. 'Received only more threats,' Jintao wanted to break out in malicious laughter, if not insult her mere existence. He had told her to back down and that he would too. The only reason why he didn't back down first was his knowledge that she could take the opportunity to end him.
Jintao bought back his eye contact with the man. He was ashamed for what he had done to Tay, but refusing to be killed by one who wasn't welcomed in his quarters was another thing. The Phoenix had panicked, entered a room that she didn't have permission to enter- regardless of her rank, and intruded on a situation that she was clueless about. All of which, if his actions were truly called for, could land her punishment. Foolishness, the Destruction would have had fun with this one.
Jintao stood silently, waiting for the man to speak, that is, if Lyra didn't speak first. He hoped that his discernment on the man's wisdom would be correct, and that the man would see right through the Phoenix's pathetic act. Anything less could end in his own punishment, and any such punishment that could come would be sure to be less dignifying than dying at the hands of the foolhardy Quartermistress.

@RDchicken99?

(I was waiting to see if Tay would pop in or not.)
(I don't think she will, and even if she was, I think Cyrus speaking first (and depending on what is said/done or communicated, possibly Jintao too) probably would make more sense. Plus, Tay appears to be having some hearing problems, so that might be hindering her as well. Unless @_-Captain BRM-_ says otherwise, for the part Tay is in this scene, it'd probably be best to continue it on until Tay either does something (like she has been) or says something.)

(This is very reasonable)
