I thought I had seen all the old standard smileys. That one is new to me ;-) (that one is supposed to be a wink).

For the Silkies in the chick house now he named one "BigFoot", the littlest one "Miss Peggy", and a sickly little one "Eggy Poo". I think it is telling that my Grandson named a male and female when they were two hours hatched! (And he was correct) And 'Eggy Poo" didn't make it to live past three days. At first that name was funny and then it made sense. That chick didn't absorb all the yolk at hatch. What are some of the names your grandson came up with?
I drew the line when my nephew wanted to use potty names for them. No I will not call that chicken poop. That's rude. lol
Ahhhh!!..Thank you!! Some stuff is just new and slips by me...and I used to be computer literate...Its a sideways silly face lol. Im a very perky person. that smiley face pretty much defines me
Oh yes. That falling asleep in weird positions had me terrified when I first saw it. LOLI have one more egg to go..it is piped and cheeping away so..so far so good. They all look so cute running around like little roadrunners. My favorite time is watching them run like crazy than stop...and drop the head. Sound asleep.
I have 5 RIR so far and 7 barn yards....
One egg is piped, one egg is totally silent. No interior or exterior pip. Pretty sure that is a goner.
I actually have done very well. Out of all the eggs in lock down, I had 2 confirmed deaths and one not sure.

Yes. I also won't call my chickens rude names. Even in jest. I've held that position about the dogs and cats I owned in the past as well. They deserve respect.
However...When I was a kid all male beef and dairy calves were given names like, "T bone" Porter house, Rib eye, ect. It was easier eating a burger at the family table that way. I was the kid that always asked, "Whos for dinner tonight mama?" She would always answer with something like, "T bone". It would have been harder for me as a little girl to take a big bite of " Lu Lu, Spot or Brownie".
I plan on naming the Bronze turkey poults similarly. Already have the names picked out.

ohhh thanks!! I am glad I know now.
First time I saw this was at the miramichi exhibition. I was like oooh poor thing its dead. Then all of a sudden it BOLTS up and RUNS full tilt. It was hilarious. Then the girl in charge was like yeah they sleep in weird positions XD
One more thought on this... Remember how when you do the deep litter without adding DE/PDZ, etc. that it allows the growth of BENEFICIAL bacteria, molds, and nematodes? (Kind of like yogurt or ff...the good stuff outnumbers and keeps the bad stuff in check...)
I'm also thinking that using the Deep Litter and allowing it to become inhabited with the good stuff will also keep this from being an issue for us. All the more reason to keep that DL going and composting with dirt from the local environment!
Here's a couple links on beneficial Deep Litter:
