The Natural Chicken Keeping thread - OTs welcome!

Anyone know of any natural/herbal antibiotics for chickens?
I don't need any but I like to be prepared just in case.

For a topical antibiotic, many folks swear by Nu Stock ointment. It's hard to find in stores, so just get some on the internet. Also, putting unpasteurized apple cider vinegar in your chickens' water can help keep other nasties at bay internally.

Great! I already add ACV but I will check out the Nu stock ointment. Thanks

I did find some Nu stock at our feed store. so you maybe able to find some local if you have a feed store close by.

Just so everyone knows, the Road Less Traveled thread is open again.

Of course folks are welcome to keep using this thread as they like!

Bulldogma, I think it's great that you started this thread. The title will help those who are looking for a more natural approach to keeping chickens, I believe, that might never have explored the Road Less Traveled thread. I hope those of us who have been following Bee will share what we've learned with others here who may have questions. Even though I didn't post much, I followed her threads (The Road less Traveled and The Old-Timer's THread) from the beginning. We owe it to Bee to share what we've learned.

Yay! Spread the word - I'd love to see some of our other good friends - and perhaps some new faces - around here!

I'm here.......research all the time, but you never see me......I love the natural way......

Thanks! that's a great blog I will have to keep an eye on!!!! I do make my own salve I have been using (very different though!) I use bees wax, herbs, olive oil,and essential oils but I may have to make some from that recipe.

Yeah! I am always looking for natural chicken threads and I have never heard of The Road less Traveled thread! the title is a little misleading.
