The Natural Chicken Keeping thread - OTs welcome!

Me too, just wish I could afford it

Check etsy.com as they have some vintage waterers, too. Not the same ones but similar and seemed less expensive than ebay.

Of course, the one I would like to have is the crock waterer @ $235. but that's sure not gonna' happen!

I remember this being discussed in the GB thread. I would imagine if the FF wasn't sitting in it for long periods. If they are cleaing it up in a reasonble amount of time, I wouldn't think so, but perhaps sitting around it may comprimise the metal. I imagine not as bad as it mixed with water, but still some chance. Anyone thoughts?
Camille,

I use sour cream containers, and the dollar store sells little glass dishes. They don't need to be made for chickens.

Yep. That's the one. Wow...Now I'm not sure I would risk putting it out where it could freeze. It would probably be safe in the chick house in the corner.

I have a lot of glass gallon pickle jars. I know I can come up with a glass bowl base. Hmmm...Going to think on this. A matter of simple physics.

The base reminds me of a ash tray
