The Natural Chicken Keeping thread - OTs welcome!

Use something smaller as the bottom bucket, so that there is a good inch or so gap between the two. Does that make sense? Yeah too much dry feed, not enough water. Your container size looks big for what they would eat. I think it would take them a good 3 days full grown to eat that amount.

I should try garlic in mine... Does it make it smell garlicy?

I personally love the smell or garlic but no its not too strong XD. And yeah Ill probably use a smaller container for now and use something bigger when their older XD

Mumsy,

Take a diamond file to the rim of that pickle jar and cut a little notch in it, and it will work just like the commercial ones.
oh my gosh! You , sir, are a genius! I mean it, it would never have occurred to me and this means I can have all the glass waterers I want! thank you

Here are some pictures of the six chicks that just hatched. 100% hatch rate. I forgot I added an egg late (well I added a bunch but the rest were not fertile at all). It should hatch in a day or two.

Silkie x NN Turken, without the naked neck. Carries dominant white.

back of same chick.

And again. There are two that look identical.

I think the legs are pretty cool. Look at the black spot!

Red Sex Link hen x Barred Rock rooster. This one will have ghost barring, and if a girl - will be a great layer.

Silkie x....? I'm thinking bantam Ameraucana. It is the one I thought was barred, but is just a blueish colour. The bantam Ameraucana is my only guess.

Again

With the RSL x BR chick.

Naked Neck Turken (barred)

<3

LOL look at the beard! AHAHA

That's the reason I do the NNs. They make me laugh.

I love the idea of the glass waterers...just don't like the open trays that get gunky and stinky.

I'm still working on a way to use the cup waterers on glass...think I'll have it ready soon!
