Well, apparently home depot carries them now...who knew?

Holy Moly!! I'd actually try that. Now, I just need a sugar-parent or scratch ticket win.
And a south facing window :D

Nonsense. You're only saying that because no one ever has. (Wesley.....)

I've got the southern exposure. I wonder how well it would work hanging next to "single pane" vinyl with hardware cloth eves all around? Seriously if I had 250 to play with I would really try it. Worst case, I could bring it inside and have a more comfortable house.

I'm not sure the window heater actually works when it's not daylight/sunny which kind of defeats the purpose. If there was a low wattage heater that could run of a solar fence charger or something like that...that would be ideal to me.

It says that you can only use it with single pane....won't work with insulated glass so .... Maybe if your vinyl is really clear like the shower curtains.

They have another model that is designed for double pane...probably twice as much (I didn't look)

Good point. It wouldn't warm things up at night.

But you couldn't use a fence charger since those are set up with an intermittent surge of power so it is "on/off on/off" all the time. This allows an animal or person to get off the fence rather than be electrocuted with a steady current.

I guess it would just take a little solar battery charger with an inverter that you could plug a heater into. But then we're back to the same problem of fire hazard.

I don't remember who it was but years ago someone told me that they put the miniature Christmas lights in their coops all along the perches. They had modern game bantams and these little birds found out that these little lights gave off a little heat. The person said that the birds would position themselves over a light when they went to roost. Pretty interesting. I would likely use the regular large bulbs (4 watts) but then there's that electrical problem too and would the birds peck the bulbs? Probably. If there were possibly Christmas lights that would plug into a cigarette lighter and run directly off the battery, I don't know if it would make any difference or not, it's still electrical.

Isn't the problem with electricity related directly to mice and their chewing "disorder?" If you ran electric wiring through metal conduit pipes, that would eliminate the mouse side of the problem.
