Hello everyone!! New to the forum.. obviously, and relatively new to backyard chickens. I have quite the mixed flock... 1 Flarry Eyed Grey that was a rescue from a fighting hen operation (the chicken that started it all), 2 Buff Orpingtons, 2 Barred Rocks, 1 gold Americauna, 1 Gold Laced Wyandotte and one Blue Orppington Cockerel. RIP Sharky, our White Brahma and Lily our Silver Laced Wyandotte and The "Dude" our Bantum Roo :( Very sad business

I live and work on a large horse ranch in North Texas and am fortunate enough to have a very large well fenced back yard in which to keep my ladies and gentleman safe(most of the time) and free range. I LOVE CHICKENS!! I'm obsessed actually, drives my fiance bonkers, he doesn't share my passions but he secretly loves them, I can tell. Frets over their safety all the time and I actually caught him petting one yesterday :)

I'm hoping to connect with other chicken lovers and to learn and share information from those far more experienced than I am. Thanks for the welcome and I hope to meet as many peeps as I can here.

Be sure to stop by the BYC Learning Center for all the nice articles on poultry keeping! https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center

Sounds like you were bit by the poultry bug, it is something some people
react to it different then others but one thing is for sure it is an addictive
and tragic phenomenon to watch some people as the addition takes hold
and soon controls their every action and soon they just can't get enough
poultry in their yard yes it is sad to watch but then again that is why our
founders of BYC came together and formed BYC not as a 12 steep
program as we all know there is no recovery program for Poultry as it is
worse then any love one could imagine, anyway the founders of BYC
created a web-sight for poultry addicts, lovers, enthusiasts, and those
who are in denial to come together and communicate with each other
about their poultry in the comfort of their own homes and even the people
with black-berry phones and tablets who look like they are working but
as you can guess they are on BYC yes this is a poultry addict

Enjoy your time on BYC and welcome
