The NEW Crazy 24hr AUCTION thread

So when you use oxine. Do you just poor a little from the bottle into a cup. Drop the egg in, pull it out and stick it the incubator. Or do you have to make some type of solution with it? I just dont want to mess up any eggs? Affter this I will quite chatting so I dont clog up the auction thread sorry

Always using water warmer than the egg and at the rate of 4 oz/gallon of water). In this case, you would simply dip the egg in the solution and lay it on a clean paper towel to air dry – do not rub since that would breach the egg’s cuticle, something which is important to hatching success. You can also use it at the rate of 7 drops/gallon of water in your water reservoir in your incubator, and/or in a humidifier that may be running in a room where you store eggs prior to incubation.

Never thought of that with the eggs! Forgot to say make the Water nice and warm. Also 7 drops? Is that for the eggs only? We use it in the one cup solution I think that is 8 ounces ( blah not sure) in a gallon of water to fill humidifiers / misters to do the birds in the coops. It also disinfects nearly anything it coats as it covers everything.i have done the eggs like that....awesome. I'm so used to using it in the one cup solution it is how we make it All the time. I can't imagine 7 drops is all. Lol maybe I'm using overkill lol..

You make a solution of one cup of oxine to a gallon I put it in spray bottles and use that to dip eggs... Then they are placed to air dry on. A rack then they either get packed to go to someone's house or in the fridge. I was using this for customer eggs until I got the denagard now I dip with that now. I still cleanwith oxine, mist the birds, run it in misters in the coops, spay the entire coop and perches,,kennels, nesting areas, and clean ALL things they use like waterers and feeders and all that. And I spray it on my counters I my kitchen and cutting boards
How much of the Denegard do you use to dip your eggs ? And do you put it in the incubator during incubation as some people do with the Oxine?

No denagard is a powerful antibiotic. It isn't a cleaner we use oxine with denagard as a one two type punch cleaning everything with oxine incubators included you can even put it in water. You can put small amounts of oxine in water for birds since its antibacterial qualities help the birds but I never mix them don't know if you can. Denagard is used 15 cc in one gallon of water is medicine, 8 cc is preventative it tastes horrid to the birds some people have trouble some don't getting them to drink. IF you do then put sugar in the water to sweeten it.they will drink it then...I have seen birds gasping f:lol:or air and having to force feed water with meds into them and they lived!!

No I don't think it is designed to heat up like that for long periods and water when you dip eggs is only warm not hot like incubation..oxine is much better for that I'm going to try that myself come spring and hatching time. I would dip them as that is what provides a more bacteria free environment for the baby is the egg is fertile to develop in. The babies are stronger and hatch better and seem healthier than without it. It also gives the baby a bacteria prevention dose basically I guess. It say it helps to prevent things like cocci and MG early on. I need to find that like Deb was looking at the other day I will post it when I get it. Supposedly oxine sits on the shells and helps in disinfecting the shell. Literally kills bacteria..then the baby develops... Well the denagard actually penetrates the shell goes into the membrane and soaks into the developing embryos body and surroundings and does its thing to help it get stronger( I don't know how) and develop better and healthier.they hatch easier and faster and live more offer with fewer problems...that is basically what the article said I NEED to find that grrrr. Let me go look! I figure anything I can do I will I like denagard since it doesn't remove the bloom on the eggs.. I don't think oxine does either. If I could find the answer I would do both then hatch. The oxine first dry then denagard then dry I have two nice ladies that hatch eggs for me for test purposes maybe I should do an experiment? That is a GREAT IDEA! Then SHIP see if it helps them or if there is any difference at all.

Eta let take this to the chat thread...I will talk to you about it over there.....:D

Just silkie eggs as to do does a great job...the hen I saw him get to is now broody so she isn't laying I think this is a GREAT deal and my babies are show quality darlings from some of the biggest top name breeders! ( note all babies would not necessarily be show quality of course but several of my parent birds are of this quality) I do have several colors all running together and the pen is NOT separated yet. sorry lol not building another pen right now! Besides I love it when I let them out and everyone is all so beautiful and looking different. We have white, paint, splash, buff, red, red partridge, one little blue girl, black( I have some awesome blacks, white and paints.. IMO!)

My Roos in the silkie pen
