The NEW Crazy 24hr AUCTION thread

Don't feel bad... got a Jubilee Orpington large fowl hen stuck in limbo somewhere between Kentucky and Cape Cod since Tuesday. NO ONE has laid eyes on the box or scanned her since the day she went into the system.

Here is her tracking number if anyone wants to help "make noise" so they stay on it... but I am not very hopeful at this point

Granted, four days is a LONG time for a live animal to sit in limbo, but at least we know where she is!

Yep, super frustrating. I have zero faith in the PO tracking system. Last year the tracking system said a package I sent was in Petaluma CA yet an hour later it showed up on the persons door in Florida. I was hoping that was going to be the case with your eggs. I'll go to the PO Monday to sort it out. Have a good weekend.

Was it sent either Priority or Express?

Express is guaranteed time delivery, and even if it shows it was scanned ONE MINUTE LATE, you get your money back for the shipping. Priority has no guaranteed time, but provides tracking and... a basic $50 in insurance. When you go to the post office, ask how long until you can claim the package was lost in the mail and collect on the insurance, and what the procedures are for collecting on the insurance.

JUST noticed that yours actually was sent via 1-day express with $100 in insurance. You get both the insurance if anything happened to her, PLUS your money back for the cost of shipping. DO NOT LEAVE that post office until you have filed claims for it!

That would just gut me knowing a bird was out there in the postal system. So far, I've had very good luck both shipping and receiving. One bird I shipped got lost or delayed for one extra day and I was panicking, but she did arrive alive, although very thirsty and hungry.

I know, I'd have gone nuts, too. HOPEFULLY someone noticed the problem and fed her at least SOMETHING along the way (even just bread). If she arrives sickly because of the long trip, you can still file an insurance claim, and the money back for the shipping, and just nurse her back to health. So I'm really crossing my fingers that she is at least still alive!

It would just make sense when a box is marked live birds and they know the shipment is delayed, for someone to open it and offer food and water, but I seriously doubt that would happen. Sad, but it wouldn't surprise me if they had a rule against it.

They do. We're not supposed to actually open ANY mail, what so ever. But if it were me, and I realized it was being sent express and was a live animal sitting somewhere for four days, I would offer it food and water. But I'm one of those people that WILL break the rule for a life to be saved - even if it's a small one. (Except bugs. I don't care about the life of bugs.)
