The NEW Crazy 24hr AUCTION thread

I just have one standard question about greenfire birds.....are they show quality? or do I have to pick out the biggest and healthiest for a flock of mine?
Bielefelders are not a recognized breed in the US, so there are no show quality birds. There is no standard defining what a show quality bird is at this point. In every breeding program I would recommend picking the healthiest for a flock, though maybe not always the biggest. We found the birds to be very high quality and consistent. The most common "fault" was with hens that had combs that we considered too small. A couple of our cull pullets barely had a comb. We had roosters that did not have as much barring or as vibrant coloring. There were none that I believe would have been detrimental to breed, only ones we preferred more due to looks. We have had no genetic issues in the chicks so far and have found them to breed true and consistently. We have multiples roosters to increase the genetic diversity as much as possible.

Had a couple requests to see the eggs so I am posting them here. The Bielefelder are the larger darker ones in the top of the carton and on the left of the side by side. The smaller, lighter ones are Bresse.

24-HOUR AUCTION

One dozen+ Black Sumatra hatching eggs

I have one roo over four hens, separated to ensure purebred offspring. I do not carry any blue lines, only the original black. I'm now working with the second generation and seeing some potential for show quality this time around. But I have one incubator already full of their eggs, and saving the two other incubators for the other breeds - and the excess is being sold for now.

Please forgive the ragged tail feathers caused by the mud from this year's heavy rains. This is NOT normal for my chickens, and you can see much better quality feathers growing in at the base of the roo's tail!

Shipping will be calculated based on zip code of the winning bidder and added to the final price. Bidding starts at $15. AUCTION ENDS AT 12:15PM EASTERN TIME ON FRIDAY, APRIL 4TH.

PLEASE ONLY QUOTE THIS LISTING IN YOUR REPLY IF YOU REMOVE THE PHOTOS FIRST. But it is preferred that you merely list my username and your bid amount.
