The NEW Crazy 24hr AUCTION thread

400

24hour auction. 6+ Lavender and Lavender split to Black and Buff Orpingtons starting bid $15. $9 shipping starts at 7:18

These people who have 6 post in the last 6 mo and ALL buying birds slay me. Justin V please read the BST rules, specifically # 8.

Pardon me, I'm sorry. Didn't mean to bother you on your high horse. I made a human error and didn't see that I had to have twenty posts to buy- no one seemed to care last year when I bought an auction. And forgive me if you think I am coming off rude- but you came off rude to me. I love this forum, and would have been lost without it. (This is in reference that you made after this post about people "coming in and buying eggs" and not being "part of the community". Wouldn't all chicken owners and farmers be part of the same community? Or maybe not- I don't think I would want to be part of a community that tells other folks "slay me" because someone broke or misunderstood or missed a rule - a minor/somewhat silly rule IMHO, I might add. I sure don't teach my daughter to treat others like that. If I was the kind of person that easily took things to heart, you probably would have just run off another member of the "community" that you want folks to be a part of - I think the more the merrier. I am a proud chicken owner of 60+ chickens, and would consider myself a part of the chicken "community", and actually a part of the BYC community - whether I have 6 posts or 600. Whenever people ask me questions or for help at the feed store or at the fair, I always say "check out BYC, its a great place that learned a ton!". Unfortunately, I don't have the liberty to lurk the forums all day or for part of the day and comment a lot. I run a family business and usually wake up early and tend the chickens with my daughter, take her to school and then go to the business and work until just before dark. Then I come home, tend the chickens again and do dinner and family stuff. I apologize that I can't find much time to post a lot - even if it is not a post that benefits the community. I will take a few minutes now and go make another 13 posts so that I comply with the rules - specifically #8, because I wouldn't want you to have to be slayed! I am sure that will magically make me part of the community, officially. Ironically, even though I am from the south, I don't drink much iced tea. I apologize in advance to all for the long post but I felt the need to explain how that post might have offended some people and turned them completely off to the community. And like I said, I think the more folks who raise their own chickens, the better! I apologize if I have come off rude or offensive to you, Zootopia - but I felt you comment was very rude and unnecessary. If you felt the need to take it upon yourself to read my profile, find out my posts were in buying threads (which by the way, I could have 20 posts all buying eggs and that would comply with the rules) and comment, you could have just said something along the lines of "Hey Justin, maybe you missed it but the rules say you have to have 20 posts. We want you to be part of the community." I do envy your time that you have to spend on the forums, and I hope one day I will have the same time too. Have a great night.

Ok folks, plenty of eggs for everybody. I don't care if you have 20 or 2020 posts as long as we play nice, represent your stock accurately, and pay for what you win.

Hi just wondering why does it matter how many posts?
Besides the rules, thy BYC is about community. People who come in only to buy are really not a part of our community. Come in, sit down, have a glass of tea and stay awhile

WOW. I've always felt so welcome in any forum.... until now.

I too don't post much. I work 12-14 hour days, including Saturdays.

But I've learned a lot in 8 months, watching, reading, and getting to know other BYC members across my state in private messages. I was up to 3:00 a.m. last night on BYC reading the entire forum on Heritage Rhode Island reds. But I didn't make a single post.

Just because I don't chat it up doesn't mean that I am "People who come in only to buy are not a part of our community."

It would be nice if those that are considered 'Newbies' were made to feel welcome, encouraged, and kept enthused.

JustinVero, I think you have a valid point and I'm sorry that your first experience on this forum was not the best. I see you have your 20 posts now and hope you get to bid and, perhaps, win!

As for me, I guess I need to go hurry up and make a few inane comments on several forums in 15 minutes so that I too can be considered part of this community.

x2

We welcome everyone on this thread as long as they read the rules and the sellers instructions before bidding so that they understand exactly what they are bidding on (and of course pay promptly).

The thread should be fun, and easy to navigate.

If you want to discuss this further please use the chat thread.

Thanks!
