I do know my Express bird shipment did not make the guarenteed delivery date and time so the postage is to be refunded. They announce that right in the recorded msgs while waiting to talk to customer service. Claim can be filed right online.

I only buy eggs on this site. Even here I have had a few negative experiences but not many. KYtinpusher is one of my favs and her SFH chicks are gorgeous.
 
I trust my local PO, small and personal. USPS? I"ve gotten the run around about reimbursement for a smashed PRiority box. THeir own box did not hold up to their handling!!! IT was a very disappointing conversation over all-- the lady was nicey nice but did nothing with my claim. Said it had to go thru the chanells. Of course she didn't tell ME that. USPS is all we have folks, so I try to work around the bugs the best I can to deliver viable eggs.
 
I have found that a killing cone makes all of the difference. I even take them and swaddle them in a kids 3T t-shirt and duct tape to stop them from struggling, then I put them in the killing cone and sever their Jugular and let them bleed out, then I sever the cervical vertebrae.

Have to sneak in here rbaker, and say that I love your avatar..darling baby!
 
Wanted to add Ayeupchuck is great too and has eggs on this thread sometimes. Gorgeous dark eggs and packed perfectly. I with the feedback system was easier to use on this site. I shouldn't recommend my fav's. I'm creating more competition for myself!LOL

Lives only have a three day guarantee now. If someone gave you a refund it was done in error. I have not heard anything from the USPS regarding the hatching eggs information you have suggested.

9.3.4 Adult Fowl
Disease-free adult fowl may be mailed domestically when shipped under applicable law in accordance with 1.7. Adult chickens, turkeys, guinea fowl, doves, pigeons, pheasants, partridges, and quail as well as ducks, geese, and swans are mailable as follows:

a. The mailer must send adult fowl by Express Mail in secure containers approved by the manager, Product Classification (see 608.8.0 for address).
b. The number of birds per parcel must follow the container manufacturer limits and each bird must weigh more than 6 ounces.
c. A mailing container must be used that is constructed by a USPS-approved manufacturer listed on the RIBBS website at http://ribbs.usps.gov.
d. Indemnity may be paid only for articles that are lost, damaged, or missing contents, and not for death of the birds in transit if there is no visible damage to the mailing container.
e. Postage refunds may not be available if the Express Mail shipment was delivered or delivery was attempted within three days of the date of mailing as shown in the �Date In� box on Label 11.
