[/quote This is a little off subject but, I saw on here where you were selling some bantam AMs eggs with a black roo as the daddy. Do you have a picture of him somewhere on a thread? The reason I ask is because I have a black bantam hen and I am not sure if she is a bantam easter egger or what. She lays blue eggs and it really doesn't matter about her genetic background because she is my favorite hen. I am just curious and I would love to see your roo. Thanks

Of course at the moment, most are starting to molt, so I'll probably wait. Then again, Nifty or one of the members usually has an ugly molt contest. One of my Lav AMs could have won that last year, but she wouldn't let me get a pic of her. LOL

Lol. Too funny. Is it true that the silkied AMs originated from a pair owned by a member of BYC? I read something about that somewhere. I don't own any but I think they are adorable. I have silkies and easter eggers and a broody sitting on a couple of white true AMs. I know the silkied ones are not a cross between the two but I have often wondered what that cross would look like. I think the silkied ones must be what the best of both worlds would be.

Jubaby had the first 2. Others got eggs from her and started breeding to straight AMs and now there are several people working on them. I had a horrible time getting any to either hatch or thrive. If I could afford it I'd try and get chocolates from ChooksChick (my hatching idol), but for now I have BBS. Looks like what I've hatched out are roos, but that fine. I'll breed to AMs for splits and work from there. I have a cute little blue (know darn well it's a cockerel and could tell at hatch! LOL) with those pretty little Silkies feathers starting to grow in. I have some BBS from my AM pen in another brooder that are a couple of weeks older, so I'll use those to breed to this guy later, along with whatever else has hatched or will hatch soon. The hardest part is getting them to survive to adulthood. I guarded my one roo for probably a year or more. Too "CHICKEN" to let him in with other bird. Kind of defeated my purpose. LOL He's big and healthy now and in with hens and I'll be adding more in a couple of months. I wish I hadn't messed up my phone. I really would like to get pics of these chicks as they're growing.

I had eggs supposed to hatch last night so I decided to go to an auction I read about on facebook on a chicken page. That way I wouldn't sit here and worry. My first livestock auction in Alabama. I was so excited. Until I got there and the locked gate said every 2nd and 4th Saturday. 1 3/4 hour drive. I was not happy. On the way home I stopped at a produce stand. My car wouldn't start back up. Never had anything wrong with my car. It started just when the tow truck pulled up. Got home and I missed the end of the auuction I wanted to bid on, I think, but not sure. Couldn't find it again because there had been about a 100 posts while I was gone. Still not a pip. And this morning, no pips. Still moving inside.

If the temp going high doesn't kill the egg, what kind of damage can it do to the chick?
