The NEW Crazy 24hr AUCTION thread

chick-among-us, what are the chances of getting a silked ameraucana from these eggs?  I didn't follow the description very well on which birds were silkied, which were carriers, and which were neither.  Thanks.

Hi CJ! These birds in this pen ALL eggs WILL be split to silkied for sure at LEAST then a really small percentage can be silkied the reason it is small is because almost none are laying and the ones that are laying are smooth feathered NON split birds EXCEPT the olive egger that is laying she carries the silkied gene so she is ALREADY a split. So her eggs will be 50% splits...50% silkied,as she is bred to the silkied roo. This is why I just say these are silkied split eggs...it is just a small chance over all to get the silkied chick.

Over the summer I offered eggs from just the olive eggers bred to a silkied roo...so the chance was 50/50 :D

You can breed two splits together as adults to get 50% splits ,25 % smooth NON carriers, and 25 % pure silkied babies.

You need two Silkied to get a Silkied feathered chick. I don't know if all her hens are smooth feathered or if she has some Silkied feather hens in the bunch. I am waiting for mine to start laying then I will be offering eggs also I have a trio.

You don't need two silkied parents. There are a couple ways to get silkied chicks. One is breed split to split.... Two Is breed silkied to split. Both give percentages of fully silkied babies. ;)

Thank you. I was hoping for a higher chance for silkied, but if all of them will be split, at least I won't have to guess on that aspect either. When does the auction end? (I think it's already over.) Will you be offering eggs that will produce higher chance of getting silkied when they get back to laying?

Well when my babies grow up if ANY make it till adult hood....fox/ possum/ other predator...got into GUESS what pen.?! Now I will be lucky if any make it till adult hood! I/we are soo upset.

7 left pure silkied birds. Then I'm out. If they make it to laying ( in Fort Knox as it is) I will offer eggs for sure! You know it! YOU CAN always buy from me! You are a repeat customer several times over after all! Lol

Just offer these splits until I have pure fluffies to put out there... Wait with this roo that makes 8 silkied birds.
