The NEW Crazy 24hr AUCTION thread

Will be following

Is there any interest here in hatching eggs of Silver Spitzhauben for the New Year Hatchathon ? I have show quality parent birds - young hens - so I have to plan very carefully about egg promises !!!

Here is a club pic of a hen - winter hardy - white eggs - sweet with other birds - active, so not too cuddly. Full sized but smaller bird - comprable to a leghorn

I love my Spitzhauben, they are the funniest of all my birds. But if you don't want birds that fly out of the run - these aren't for you! I found that these fly higher and further than any of my other birds. They refuse to lay eggs in the boxes. They fly out and we play find the eggs every day. They don't wander very far, they just like to be on the other side of the fence from the rest.

I agree that they are SUPER Curious and not really as afraid of the big bad world as they should be :)

Love Mine and the roos do a fine job as flock protector -but the hens really think they are special - at least mine ! Last to go to bed - but I contained mine in an area so long that they are very bonded with it - so they always go back to their coop at night - just ... not until real dark. :)

I'm very interested in Spitzhauben eggs. I have some beautiful hens, but would love to add some new blood to the breeding pool.

OK, so that listing for Spitz was over a year old, if i were you i would try to PM the seller, do a search on here, join the spitz thread, please also note that they used an internet stock photo not their own
ALSO Please join the CHAT THREAD, as mentioned previously

Thanks!!

and i am not trying to get knickers in a knot, but i keep watching for Auctions for eggs that i want, not to read chit-chat

Mine all fly in and out at their leisure. They are SO entertaining!!! Flying in for treats, back out for bugs. I don't notice what time they bed down. It is like you said, they are the most curious birds I have. I can't have roosters, so I re-homed all the boys. I have about 12 hens that jump out of the runs and wander the yard. The Black Australorp/EE mix birds are the most dramatic. They are the first to sound a warning. The Spithauben are the only ones smart enough to fly back in. The other breeds all pace back and forth in front of the their gate waiting for us to let them back in.
