The New Face Of Anorexia??..

Very good point. I would like to see the dad's take on the whole situation.

My implied point is that these boys are being raised by women and find it easier to hang with females, thus, the lack of male influence on their pshyche.

Look at the one boy's mannerisms and speech patterns.

Nah, I don't think thats it. Being raised by a single mother wont make a boy act feminine.

Another thing, single mother household are not new and have always been common throughout time, as have been stepfamilies and blended families. Female headed households can't account for this.

Also, being "feminine" or gay/etc does not give you an eating disorder. There are a lot of there things that make you succeptable to mental illness though... There is evidence that viruses may be a culpret of some metal disorders like schizophrenia and Obsessive compulsive disorder (which has stuff in common with anorexia), emotional truama, lack of coping skills, family history - mental illness is highly inheritable.

Are you telling me that environment had nothing to do with his choice to starve himself? I do recall it being mentioned that he hung around with girls, all the time, and that was a constant topic of conversation. That's like saying that you were born a thief, Hanging around with the hoodlums was just happenstance.

I'm telling you that the particular factor of having a single mother likely had little to do with "feminine" mannerisms or the development of a mental disorder.

Im sorry - its just hillarious to me that you think hanging around with girls makes a boy feminine. You think boys being around girls makes them feminine? What is femininity contagious? Some used to call that "cooties" I think. So should brothers with sisters avoid them so they don't become feminine themselves? Maybe this boy was feminine (for whatever reason) and therefore deliberately sought female company.... You are assuming that hanging out with the girls could be the cause of his "feminine" mannerisms... and also the mental illness/disorder, when it is more likely he does not fit in with most boys and likes to be with girls as a result. Correlation is not causation.

The environment you are in can cause to act different if in another environment. When I am in my Environmental Science class I act differently then when I am in my stats class. My stats class has kids in it that care more and try while my science class has kids in it that don't try. When I hang out with a group of guys I usually talk and do things that are more "masculine" while if I am in a group of girls I talk and do things that are more "feminine". Sometimes I even catch myself acting differently depending on who is around me. If people around me are in a rush I am in a rush if they are walking slow I tend to walk slow.

My brother was raised by my single mother and hes the farthest thing from being "girly"...
Matter of fact, in his younger days, if you had called him feminine he'd have kicked your azz...
It has nothing to do with being raised by a woman..
I have known many feminine men, and most of them came from normal families with fathers present..
