Of course you'll post pics of your first eggs, right? I'm patiently waiting, right along with you.
Sure will! Been a very long time since I got a "first egg"!
I think green eggs are cleaner, and less likely to have gunk in them. Hopefully you get some soon. :fl I'm sure they will be adorable little eggs.
Not sure about that because it's been literally years since I've seen one, Lisa, but I really want those, plus the bantam Cochin eggs. I've only had one bantam Cochin hen, my lavender girl, Shadow. Only two or three of all of Hector's and Bash's hens are laying now because a lot are molting, plus they're all five years old +, except Cora and Maddie, but they aren't spring chickens any longer, either.

I'm not a fan of eating eggs, but when I do I only eat my bantam eggs. They seem less eggy than the big eggs. I have bantam EE so I get the best of both worlds with bantam green eggs. :)

If I can only keep one breed of chicken it will be bantam cochins. I'm not getting anymore bigger breeds going forward. Easier to keep bantams, and I enjoy them much more.

After having these bantam Cochins, I tend to agree with you. I love them! Most of all, Magnus reminds me of Xander, though he's a buff and Xander was black. Bodie and Gunnar are both super sweet and Forrest is just goofy Forrest.
Today, Forrest grabbed Rayna, the brown-and-blue EE pullet, by the head feathers. She flogged him in the side than chased him when he looked at her again, but she still followed him around, LOL. :gig

They are the most adorable breed of chicken in my opinion. Even when making trouble, which the roos like to do, I can't get mad at them. I have never butcher a bantam Cochin rooster. They are always spared and kept like royalty here. I make accommodation for extra roosters. I've owned some good ones over the years.

I also like that they come in every color imaginable, so they can all be different. I also love that they come in frizzle. Those are like little marshmallows. They are a fun breed. The only downside is they are addictive. :)

Yesterday at 21 weeks, Shelby was showing major interest in the nests. She sat several times, messed around, kept going in and out. Everyone else was fascinated by what she was doing, especially Bodie. I expected an egg, but she wasn't quite there yet. Of course, Crazy Shelby would be my first layer in that group. She's a bit loony, that one.

Mine showed serious interest in the nest for a few days, before they laid their first egg. Of course, a couple of them seemed to know what was going on back there, and made it to the nest in time. A couple others, didn't seem to fully grasp the concept at first, didn't make it to the nest, and dropped the egg where they stood.
