The New Generation of Flock Protectors *Lost One Today 11/18 *

Thank you, Suzie. I still can't believe he isn't out there. I hope moving Gabriel and Scout into the main flock in a few weeks goes okay. Usually, Isaac doesn't bother the young ones who aren't mating his hens.

So sad - he was a lovely lad. Sounds like Isaac wants to be the only rooster in town.

Yes, he does. Isaac doesn't realize that he won't live forever and I do not want a rooster-less, and hence, in my mind, unprotected flock. If he dies and no one is laying at the time, I wouldn't then be able to even gather eggs to hatch out one of his sons, which I'd dearly love to have. Isaac is an exemplary rooster and I want that temperament in the flock. I'm not sure his actual intention was to kill Indy, but it is what it is.

I am sorry for your loss of Indy- shocking that Isaac would do such a thing. Better hatch out some eggs quick!

There are no eggs. That is the trouble. No one except Tiny, one blue Rock and one EE hen are laying (in the main flock, that is). For another Indy, I need BR eggs from Ida, Wynette, Dottie or Druscilla, but especially big Ida. None of those are laying.
