My new little ones have arrived!! I decided to add to my 9 week old flock. Figured the sooner the better!

I order 5 French Black Marans. 4 girls and one boy. They sent 6. And I’m waiting for a response but I believed they marked the little guy for me. And if I’m right…he for sure stand out from the rest of them, without the marking. And if they didn’t mark the extra…maybe the extra is a girl??? I guess really it will be a waiting game to see if there is a second boy.

One has me a little worried. She was drinking and some bubbles came out her beak. And she kept trying to swallow the water. I pick her up to see what I could do and her crop was full and you could feel bubbles in there as well.

I want to note that I did give them warm water and I did add apple cider vinegar with the mother to it.

I gave the boy some sugar water because he was just laying around. Not really drinking or eating. And panting a lot. None of the others were. I have the temp just over 100 due to the hot weather outside and affecting I side temps some. Don’t want it too hot for them but hot enough. He wasn’t really under the heat lamp either. He is doing better now though. I will just have to keep an eye on him.

Do not add ACV to the water. Just give them fresh room temp water.
Also try to get the temp in the warm side of the brooder down to 95 and have the other side as cool as possible and keep the food and water on the cool side.
I have the food and water there because they had just gotten there. I added ACV to it because at first a few werent able to stand very well. Also I did this with the first batch and they all did very well.

I'd do Poultry Nutri-Drench instead, chicks absorb it readily and it helps give them a quick boost plus some vitamins.
They are doing great now. I’m not gonna worry about it. Just doing exactly what I was told to do and it worked for these little guys. Thank you though
