Hi just me again my sister wants some of these muscovies also she has a lot of room and would like some drakes is it ok to take the two drakes in pic I sent you who have been together since the hatched then add females when older is it best to get them at 10/12 weeks which is what I’ve read would like them ASAP to enjoy as pets my sister has also got hens no cockerel but wounded would the 2 remain to get on till females arrive probably 8 females at least thank you again

Hi been to see babies today they have grown so much all changing rapidly some just gone 5 week some 6 weeks on Saturday all coloured so nice wanting desperately to pick my females out yous have already helped with the older ones this probably to soon but any ideas please on the sex of any from the pics hopefully I’ll remember how to send here goes fingers crossed

This is total gut feeling and is by no means a final answer:

I've outlined the difference in male and female body shape so you have something to look for. The males are long and narrow, the females round and compact. The black one is the only one I can say with some sort of confidence is a girl.

Also the feathering on the older one in the background is very typical for drakes. The females get the long flight feathers quickly, while the drakes' wings stay short like this for a long time. So by the time the rest are feathered in like this, you'll know for sure.

Muscovy drakes can be quite mean to each other, so if you get more than one be prepared for fighting when they mature. Getting the two brothers is ok, but they will still have to fight it out when they become adults. And space! they need room enough to be able to avoid each other when they want to.

SOS it’s like a quiz started to pop red tags on a few I think are females and you’ll see some you have already gave advice on but are older now thanks again need me and my sister to settle in new homes abit worried am going for really small ones only cos I no they must be female going to have to do some cutting back in garden we’re they are going as think I’ll loose them ha ha just have to rattle a bag sure they’ll come running

Ok here we go. They're not completely feathered in yet, so still too young to be absolutely sure. They're big enough to sex by feet though, especially the bigger males and smaller females.
