The New Way To Hatch And Grow An EMU Embryo ( Go Big Or Go Home)

May I ask how you were able to hatch an egg with half a shell? What did you use? I tried removing half the shell with the clear membrane intact and then covering the membrane with clear nail polish to act like a "shell". I only tried this once to a single egg so maybe it could work, but the little embryo died at day 14. I was pretty sad being that I was watching it the whole time. So what did you use to sucessfully hatch it? I was thinking about trying to use clear hot glue instead of nail polish. It would only be hot for a few seconds and would be stronger and contains less cemicals.

I ask because I'm going to fire up the incubator soon for some expensive hatching eggs, so I thought I might grab a few of my eggs and try the experiment again. It really is a very cool process, especially with something as large as an emu egg like you're doing.

That is so awesome that you were able to hatch with 1/2 shell. I did see your videos and it was very interesting. I'm subscribing to this thread....can't wait to see how the emu egg experiment works. Either way it will be a great learning experience for all of us. Thanks for taking that on!

Where the air cell is where i took off the shell and covered it with saran wrap with tape.
