I was going to go to the A and P show last year just for that reason! However I think it was canceled. Sigh.

My dad and his partner live down between Rangiora and Amberly, I'm stealthily sussing out the breeders down that way so next time I drive to visit I can bring back some hens. Stealthy because I'm sure my husband and daughter would say we don't need any more chickens.
I've got a flock of 10 plus 5 chicks and some more chicks on the way soon (eggs are under a broody now).
It's actually a flock of 7 in my mind because one of them is my rooster and two of them are retired. So obviously I need more.
We got our eggs from Willowbank. I am not sure of all the breeds that they have but we got eggs for dorkings, cochins, and hamburgs. Only 4 of our eggs hatched but we ended up with 2 golden pencilled hens, 1 silver spangled hen, and 1 silver spangled cockerel.

Hi, thanks, I'm in Aucklamd with our group of quail. Pretty new to this but they've already won us over being more friendly than we expected
really wanna get a late hatch in while the weather's still good, but they're not doing me any favors.
My spring chicks have NOT started laying yet and one of them hatched in September. Hmmmph. However they're araucana crosses and araucanas can take their good sweet time coming on to lay. Everyone else except one hen is moulting and not laying, just like you haha, my rooster looks like such a sad boy. My leghorn finished her moult about 2 weeks ago (looks lovely) but still hasn't started back up in the eggs department.Figures, my SLW boy has finally started fertilizing some hens, so all my big girls decided now is a good time to take a break and moult. 8 girls; only one in lay.
BTW, are your spring chicks laying yet? My October babies really seem to be taking their time getting started. Was at least expecting my Campines to be going by now, but one is only just starting to drop her wattles.
Me waiting on POL when everyone has stopped laying except my frizzle.
