The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

I pick mine before they are fully ripe I ripen them out on the picnic table . Yesterday a doe and two fawns came and got in my garden . They cleaned out the cucumber bed . They stayed for about 15 mins. . The garden is only 35 feet from the window so it was a front row seat for us . I mowed the leaves on high setting so they could get them . How cute they were .

So you didn't mind them getting your cucumbers?

That would have been fun to see them that close up!

We use to raise one every now and then I had a deer fence about 1/2 acre . My wife got her permit and the game warden came over and gave it to her along with tag for the ear . We called her dancer she was always trying to play with us, in the winter I would put brussels sprouts in my carhartt jacket and she would come up and stick her nose in my pocket and get them . We went to Texas for my son graduation and someone dropped off a dog wile we were gone , at the same time it got real warm her and the ground thawed the frost had pushed one of the poles up out of the ground and heaved the fence causing the fence to tip at an angle and the dog climbed the fence and killed her . My brother was taking care of her . The dog was in the pen when he went to feed her so he called animal control and they took the dog away . People don't understand the grief they cause when they dump off their problems on someone else . I guess that will never change . You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink .

Sorry to hear about your dear Mark. She must have been a lot of fun to have around. :hugs

You are a very kind man.

She was two years old , Thanks I have since taken the fence down we couldn't go through that again . Later I learned of many deer farmers loosing their deer herds to stray dogs burrowing under the fence even though they use ground anchors . I guess one could use aprons as we do with chickens but the cost would be staggering because of the large area you have to have for deer you can't get a permit unless your fence is inspected . They Inspected ours before hand but we had a freak winter where the frost went deeper than what's normal . Around here your pipes have to be at least 36" deep or they will freeze .

Good evening everyone :frow
Good morning everyone :frow

The cats decided 1:15am was the time to get up, I'll probably be napping when most of you check in later.
Was the nap refreshing?
About time he showed 😅 I hope you have AC soon.

Hi, Mad!

Good morning Debby, 😒Same problem, but mine (cats and dogs) waited till 3 am to get up.
Good morning y'all!
I seem to have picked up a summer cold. Worse, I think I passed it on to the hubby.
I hope everyone has a great day!
That summer cold just made its round over here. My youngest brought it home Friday and since, we're all getting our share. Ugh! Hope you all feel better soon!
Good morning, Everyone. Getting the second Shingrex shot today - hoping for no reaction.
Good luck!
yup 2nd shot. No reaction to the first either.
Hoping for the best!
I want to move to California some day but that's gonna be a big change in heat since I lived in Michigan my whole life
California :woot minus the fact that its expensive as heck.
I feel like watering plants is actually tiring in my opinion
Me too  good to know I'm not alone.
It depends on where you move to in California!

I was visiting the Mendocino coast last week and it is a place that is almost always 60F. The foothills and mountains can be very much like Michigan in the winter.
Very true!! One of my favorite things about California is the different weather all in one state, and there's a ton of beaches 💜💜💜
No the vines were all dying we already got what we wanted out of the bed . It was funny she was eating along and grabbed a green tomato took a bite and gave it a good throw I guess she didn't like it .
That is so adorable to imagine!
