The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Are you a fan of "last of the summer wine"? The early stuff was good. I may be slightly partisan as its filmed 10 miles or so from my home town
Yes! My husband not so much; though he has enjoyed a lot of the "britcoms" that our Public Broadcasting System affiliate aired, that one never really appealed to him. I can still remember the first time I saw it. I don't remember what episode it was, but it had one of those long camera shots that showed a panoramic view of some gorgeous countryside, and 3 figures walking up a road in the distance, deep in conversation. I remember thinking, "I don't know what this is, but one thing I do know - one of those figures must be Peter Sallis, because that's Wallace's voice!"

Someone said that the location was as much a character on that show as any of those portrayed by actors, and I agree. Marvelous "exteriors;" if you come from around there, you hail from some beautiful country!

Good morning! Boy, did it come early today...woke up around 1:30 and haven't been able to get back to sleep.

Hope the rest of you are rested and ready for Monday!

Good morning, Debby - not a good start to the day at your end - sorry to hear that. Siesta is certainly in order! If I don't get around 7 hours sleep, I'm as grumpy as a grumpy thing - that's not to mention needing a siesta

Today's siesta was curtailed by a huge tree branch falling from next door's and snookering our electric fence - what joy

Good morning, every one else!

I think that's spot on BL - its as much about the countryside. My sister moved to the hills surrounding the place where its filmed (Homlfirth) and the views are spectacular, but jeepers its windy and cold (and thats just the summer!)

Good morning Chris, Debby and all. I cannot get used to this time change. I keep falling asleep on the couch before 8 and then am up before 4:00, ugh! Take a nap Debby

Morning Chris, sorry to hear about your electric fence. Will the neighbors get it fixed for you?

Hi DMC! I'm with you on the time change...this is why I wish they would just leave it alone. Sounds like you might be in the need of a nap yourself.

When I was a kid, never could settle down long enough for nap time. Now I'd like to have one every day

Yeah, that adds an element of "maybe" to it. Hope they'll do the right thing.

Do you have the electric fence to keep monkeys off your property and away from the chickens?

To deter thieves, it's sad to say
