Hi Marie! A good weekend to you also!Good evening everyone I hope you all have a good weekend
Oh please, Blooie, let Ken have some brahmas. They are so sweet!Taking a break. All this past fall the chicken coop served as the dog kennel. We’d even partially disassembled the hoop run. (Man, we built that thing to last through eons!) Suddenly here we are, putting it all back together for the chicks that will arrive next week. It’s actually really warm out there right now but one of those days where you put on a light jacket, then start working and get too warm, then get chilled when you stop working.
But the enclosure is set up, Mama Heating Pad is set up and running perfectly, the vertical nipples are installed in the temporary waterer, and I’m ready to put pine shavings down. Yes, I know. I hate pine shavings for litter. But this is not exactly the time of year for abundant fall leaves. We only ordered 8 chicks (added one to our order yesterday). There‘s a feed store in Cody and Ken just learned that they have Brahma chicks, which were not available from the hatchery when I ordered. Now I’m having to keep him busy so he doesn’t end up going to get a couple. In our family he’s the one who can’t resist chicks and I’m the one who plans exactly what I want.
