It's amazing how little damage can total a car, probably 95+% of it is still just fine, mostly sheet metal and bumper damage. It would be different if the van was years and years old but IIRC it is fairly new.

1:15 PM, what a weird time for a deer strike, what a weird time for the deer to even be out. I never see them in the field mid afternoon. Early morning and very late afternoon/evening.

She pulled over and waited for the first responders and tow truck with us. As soon as the van was dropped off at Western Collision she took us home. Deer died instantly. We hit him at a full 70 mph. Jen and Katie said he literally went airborne, took out a mile marker post, and continued flying all the way across the ditch to the other side. Three Highway patrolmen were looking for him and never did find him.
We’re mostly okay. A few minor airbag burns. We’re mostly Stunned. Shocked. Mad. and Worried.

Went to ER for my ear. Eardrum is intact but they’re setting me up with an ENT because they can’t check for structural damage on the other side of the eardrum. Peachy. Just peachy.

Me too!! I had my head tilted to the side by my window when the airbag hit me dead on the ear. Thought my ear was ringing from the noise at first but it’s gotten progressively worse and I can barely hear out of it now. If I tense my jaw muscles slightly it sounds like plates rattling. I’m permanently deaf in my left ear and have been for years, so I don’t want any issues with the right one!

The rule of thumb is that if the air bags deploy, the car is totaled.
