Minnesota slang for hot

I just went out and sprayed my potato plants with bug killer. They are so bad this year. I noticed I have tiny little caterpillars on my Zinnias. Never have I had bugs on my flowers. I sprayed them too. The worms are actually turning the plant brown. That’s how I noticed the worms.

Why don’t you ladies come to my house and I’ll fatten you up a little bit
Caterpillars and slugs and snails love my backyard šŸ˜’ I just started sprinkling crushed egg shells around some of my plants for the snaila but I forgot to check if there were any caterpillars ON the plants. Growing a little bean plant with my youngest and it got half eaten. What do you typically spray on vegetables?
Sounds like we have a potential for bad storms tonight. Being we had 2 direct hits in under 3 weeks, hubby called our crop insurance guy today and got hail insurance added. Our crops need rain but we can do without the hail.
We got this tree cut apart today with an excavator and a chainsaw. The backyard is finally drying up enough to get back there.

You have a beautiful place.
Hi, Riss :frow

Just go to the grocery store in town. Thank God that store went out of business. Their hamburger came from Mexico, it was on the label, seeing how it didn't resemble hamburger, I figured it was horse meet.
 I would not want to eat a horse.
Good morning Bob, Janie and all!
We got a storm last night but nowhere near the last 2. It put on quite the light show. We got a 1/2ā€ of rain which we needed.
Phew! Thank goodness it wasn't as bad. Is today looking nicer?

In hot weather and no rain, how often do you water?

I usually don’t have bugs. This is what I am using. Not sure how well it works. I’ve been killing lots of potato bugs by hand. It says kills on contact but not sure that is true.
My place was prettier when it had trees, but thank you! I miss my trees. Hubby was going to talk to the Government office to see if there was a program that would help fund the planting of new trees.
I am glad we dodged this storm. Not to far away there are downed power lines and damage. Today is only mid 80’s. It will be a little humid but better then it has been.

What kind of trees were they? Do you plant a particular kind?

The only trees we planted here were Evergreen. The rest were full grown trees before we bought this farm in 1992. My favorite that went down was a Hackberry, old tree but no rot. That’s in the picture I posted yesterday. The rest were Evergreen and Ash I believe. I would love Maple trees. I love the big Cottonwoods but hubby would never plant one.

I would not want to eat a horse.
Me either, they are really big!

This is what I am using.
I looked up Sevin, note the warning when the plants put out edible size stuff.

"Although it is registered with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for use on vegetables, Sevin is toxic and you should exercise extreme caution when you apply it. The manufacturer's suggested wait time before eating vegetables sprayed with Sevin varies from three to 14 days, depending on the vegetable."

It isn't real clear but I ASSUME the wait time is BEFORE picking, not after; meaning do not spray for 3-14 days before picking the food off the plant.

I think I have an ash tree.

Good to know! Thank you Bruce for pointing that out.

I rarely use chemicals as I try to keep things natural as possible. The bugs are bad this year. It will be awhile before we dig potatoes, thanks for the info.
