Good morning. My flip phone died.
It’s here. Most of our Ash trees died from it.
Nearly all ash trees in my area of NJ have been killed.
That's a bummer, why is that? Our ash trees are all half dead. I had to skid a few out that had fallen over the wiwinter.
Good morning everyone![]()
Good morning all.
In my opinion the ash trees haven't figured out how to stop the emerald ash bores. Often times trees will send up suckers from the roots and stump. These sucker roots seem to create some kind of defense against attackers. It's a slow process. The new tree may grow up halfway then get attacked. If you cut down the second dead tree and leave the stump a new sucker will arise each one seems to be a little more resistant due to genetic drift. Genetic drift is when a plant is cloned many times mother nature has a safety valve, they call it genetic drift. Hear is an example: Red Bartlett pears are a bud sport of regular bartlett pears. It is a bud or branch on a regular bartlett pear tree that produced red pears a genetic differential, mutation, genetic drift. It's hard to explain but this is the best I can do without getting into a huge discussion. As always there needs to be more studies done on this phenomenon. A very slow process indeed. That's a bummer, why is that?
