I think it's that they don't have enough competition, especially in rural areas. Our high speed is rediculously slow.

When we bought here the options were satellite or 7 Mbps down 1 Mbps up DSL on the phone line, we did the latter. After a few years they upped it to 15 Mbps down, still 1 up. Of course that was BEST CASE! and often that 15 was well less than 10. It was also unreliable.

Late last year a fiber optic company came through on lines strung winter of 2020 (Covid broadband money I think?). We went with the cheapest - 35 Mbps up AND down guaranteed. After about 6 months they bumped it to 45 Mbps. It is much more reliable. We could get faster speeds but really have no need. Sister-in-law managed to work remotely from here even on the DSL Fall/Winter 2020-2021.

So when does the R word start? (R as in retired)

Since you are currently a homemaker, as in "work a lot, get paid nothing for your work", there is no such thing as retirement!

I froze 46 bags already. I’m thinking I’ll get about another 30. Who knows what crops will look like nice year. I think we’re going to buy another freezer next week as we have a cow coming this fall and part of a pig. I am running out of room.

Still raining. The ponds are overflowing, and water is running over the dam.
They are rescuing people from homes that are flooding in Balch Springs, near Dallas. A few weeks ago they had a fire there, because it was so dry that a mower caused sparks.
No happy medium with this weather.

And all I got was a two minute sprinkle. Guess I should be grateful for not being washed away. I'll just keep on not having to mow my grass. I'd be afraid to anyway.
