I think that's just old age. Her face no longer matches the rest of her. She was one of the first dolls to have "bendy" legs.

I can relate to that. Old age does differ throughout the body...in looks.

I think they're silly.
It reminds me of English lit classes, and trying to interpret what a writer's underlying meaning was.

That’s a perfect analogy. I once told a teacher they were reading too much into it, it’s just a story, and a really boring story to boot. I got kicked out of class for the rest of the hour. That was horrible punishment
