The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Good morning, KL. How are you this morning.
I’m alright, thanks. Been up since like 6. Couldn’t go back to sleep. That’s early for me. Also I was sick this morning. Seems to be whenever I eat sugar, I get sick the next morning. So I’m going to try not eating it for a while and see if that helps. Plus I shouldn’t be eating it anyways with the diabetes but I’m bad  but I had thought it was some serious issue or something but if I can solve it just with diet then that’s great hahah if not then I’ll mention it. Anyways, sorry for such a long winded downer answer lol how are YOU!?

Good morning all

This is my home growing up.
That is a lovely house, lots of character and craftsmanship. Now everything is straight line, hollow core doors and cheap cookie cutter painted trim.

Elevators can be retrofitted into houses for when people get less mobile ;)

BTW, 2 story houses are cheaper to build than ranches of the same square footage. Less basement walls, less roof. Of course if one wants to put solar panels on the roof, more roof can be better ;)

Some folks just have a talent for building with character. There is one cute little house a couple miles from here that has a lot, for such a small house. I wish I could move it here, :lau
Houses, especially small ones, can be moved ;)

I remember my mother wanted a house with a long deep front porch, with 13 columns. My dad built it and it was beautiful. She swept it twice, every day. After a while she said her next house would have a small front porch, and it did.
Or keep the large porch and sweep less. Some people are a bit more fastidious than others.

North Florida Chick
Which she was when she joined, and wasn't when they moved to Wyoming, then was again when they moved back to north Florida. Short stay though, now she will be a Kentucky chick but still our @N F C Debby

Seems to be whenever I eat sugar, I get sick the next morning. So I’m going to try not eating it for a while and see if that helps.
As the doctor says "if it hurts don't do it"!

Plus I shouldn’t be eating it anyways with the diabetes but I’m bad
 I know you are young but please do some research on what diabetes can do to you over time. Start doing things right, RIGHT NOW. You really don't want what is coming if you don't.

I'm fine. I find that monk fruit has been a big help. My husband is diabetic and I like sweets, so a few simple, homemade treats, really help us both.
If you like pecans, here is an easy one:
1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper & Toast 1 1/2 to 2 cups of pecans in an oven on low heat. (I use a convection setting at 325 for about 10 minutes.)
2. In a medium saucepan, HEAT a half stick of butter until light brown
3. Add 1 cup of golden monkfruit and 1tsp of vanilla extract
4. Add 1/3 cup of heavy cream and remove from heat.
5. Add pecans and stir.
6. Sit in refrigerator for about 30 minutes. Then drop tablespoon fulls onto your parchment lined pan. Return to refrigerator for approximately 1 hour until set.
